  Fear of Flying
You will discover where the name came from the moment you open the bottle. We are the only vineyard in the province growing the main variety in this cuvée, a European vinifera we call Blue Gamay, with which we have created a rich, red fruit-driven dry sparkling taste experience, unique in the world. Prepare for lift-off .....
  Harper's Row
This dry white is a rich and complex combination of Pinot Gris with Schönburger. It was named for John Harper, a pioneer of grapegrowing in British Columbia, who brought his dream to Vancouver Island, starting a vineyard in 1987 for tissue culture purposes in a partnership which later folded, eventually planting his small dream vineyard in Cobble Hill when he was in his eighties. John and his wife Verna propagated our Pinot Gris vines for us and John used to pop by now and again to ask "So, how's my row doing?" He passed away before the vines bore fruit and we will sorely miss being able to share a glass with him. Harper's Row was aged in French Oak and is round and smooth with beguiling fruit tones in both nose and palate.
  Indigo
Although this is a white wine, we named it Indigo because we love the word and colour - so sexy! Made from 100% Schönburger grapes, totally dry, intensely floral, with beguiling notes of mandarin and spice, it complements a wide range of foods, including mild or nutty cheeses, seafood, chicken and dishes with an Asian influence. Like its predecessor, Pignoletto, it makes Marilyn swoon, but this vintage is not recommended for consumption in restaurants, unless there is a private hot tub and comfortable room nearby! Perhaps you should try it at the Arbutus Grill at the new Brentwood Bay Lodge and Spa (the only restaurant yet with the Indigo on the list), then head off for a his and hers massage followed by a water jet massage in a shower built for two in the fabulous spa, then retire to your romantic room overlooking the bay.
  Madeleine Sylvaner
This vintage was left on the lees for over a year before bottling, giving it a softer, smoother feel on the palate than is traditional for us. This is a great choice when the dish is more delicate and calls for more subtle flavours in the accompanying wine. Lovely. 12.3% alcohol. Sealed with a crown cap instead of a cork to better preserve the quality of the wine.
  Mille Miglia
This dry white is made from our Kerner, a cross between Riesling and Trollinger. It has the Riesling floral notes, hints of nutmeg and is a little reminiscent of a brandy on the nose. It's racy acidity lends to its ability to pair with a wide range of foods. It was aged in French oak and will continue to develop for several years. It was named for the famed Mille Miglia (with a silent "g"), the thousand mile road race through the towns of Italy, which Giordano used to watch as a child.
  Millefiori
With its tropical fruit/flower aromatics jumping out of the glass, the 2005 Millefiori (a thousand flowers) maintains lovely acidity reminiscent of grapefruit, which keeps it alive, and it has flavours galore. It was again cold-fermented and cold-bottled to retain a fresh hint of spritz. Composed of Siegerrebe and Ortega, it complements fish, poultry and lighter meats, fruity sauces or those with hints of spice, such as ginger. It is ever-changing when allowed to warm and open in the glass. 12.6% alcohol. Sealed with a crown cap instead of a cork to better preserve the quality of the wine.
  Ortega
Selected bunches were pressed very lightly without prior crushing or destemming to make this very limited quantity dry white wine. It has subtle peach-pit and quince aromas and flavours typical of the variety and good body and finish - a great wine for food-pairing adventures. The variety was developed by crossing Müller-Thurgau and Siegerrebe and ripens with extremely high sugars and good acidity in our area.
  Pignoletto
This dry white wine, made from a Pinot Noir cross called Schönburger, is rich with spice, musk, mandarin and grapefruit that tease the senses. The name means small pine cone, as does the French word Pinot, and describes the appearance of the grape bunches.
  Pinot Gris
We have grown Pinot Gris for 16 years, our limited production being an important part of our Brut Naturel. This is our first 100% Pinot Gris still wine released to the public. It is a "virgin" Pinot Gris - no skin contact, no oak, just a pure reflection of what this variety is capable of in a good season on Venturi-Schulze soil. It has the smokiness typical of the variety and pure fruit character fills the palate. With high alcohol and firm acidity, it is ideal for the collector, as it will continue to improve for many years. We look forward to increased production with our first crop this year from the additional acreage in the 1999 vineyard expansion.
  Pinot Noir
Composed of our 5 clones of Pinot Noir, the 2004 growing season resulted in a full, rich wine with 13.7% alcohol. The crop again had extended cold maceration and was split into two batches: one was hot fermented, resulting in dark, earthy flavours, and the other cold-fermented, to maintain more of the Vancouver Island rich dark black cherry fruit character. This vintage has really come together well over 2006 and will continue to improve for several years. The wine was finished in French Nevers oak (50% new, 50% one year old) and is unfined and unfiltered. Decant the entire bottle before serving, as you may find some sediment composed mostly of tartrates. Sealed with a crown cap to better preserve the quality of the wine.
  Primavera
2003 produced an outstanding vintage of this popular wine. It is a delicious dry white, fresh and light with lovely fruit, delicate spice and mandarin/grapefruit tones in aroma and palate. Enjoy it with a wide range of foods, including light curries and dishes with subtle spices and sauces ranging from creamy to fruity. Composed of Schönburger with several secret vinifera varieties for balance and complexity. 12.3% alcohol.
  Sole
Sole (pronounced So-lay) is Italian for sun, which is what comes to mind when we gaze in wonder at the fully-ripe Kerner grapes from which it is made. This totally dry white is a bottle-fermented semi-sparkling wine. With its mild effervescence, vibrant acidity and bright fruit character, it complements many dishes, including fish and light meats with higher fat content. The fresh fruit flavours are a delight on the palate. But beware - it packs a punch! 14.9% alcohol.
