Wild Goose Vineyard

Wild Goose Vineyard Located near Okanagan Falls founder Adolf Kruger was one of the leaders in persuading the BC Government to support farm Wineries. The Kruger's operate a true family winery of 20 acres . It all began in early 1983 when founder Adolf Kruger purchased a barren piece of land east of Okanagan Falls. Upon his return to his newly purchased property it was here that he discovered a large flock of Canada geese feeding in amongst the tumbleweeds, boulders, and rubble. As he approached flock the birds took flight. From this time on the property became known as Wild Goose Vineyards!!

  Autumn Gold
No, not a variety, but a blend. Wild Goose combines wines from the above mentioned wines marrying many of these flavours and aromas into one. Our Style-This has been the biggest selling wine in Wild Goose history! The flavours are rose, apple, pear with a pleasant semi-dry finish. Grape juice is added to this wine to round out and balance the acid.
  Chardonnay
A popular variety grown at our south vineyard. Lean, and fresh, appley, and apricot flavours. Can be oaked or unoaked and made in many different styles. Our Style-After fermentation the wine is aged in both American and French barrels which add a complex flavour to the wine, blending these flavours with grapefruit and pineapple.
  Gewurztraminer
The popular variety from Alsace. A small clustered variety that produces beautiful aromatic wines every vintage. Intense spice, rose petal, and lychee nut are the most common characteristics of this wine. Our Style-This is our trademark wine. Wild Goose has made one of the top Gewürztraminers in B.C. since our inception back in 1990. Slightly dry in finish and intense rose petal aromatics are the patented Wild Goose flavours extracted and put into every bottle. A must have wine every vintage!
  Marechal Foch
A French hybrid variety that grows very well in B.C. Dark and intense fruity flavours make Foch a consistent excellent red wine. Our Style-Made from our "Old Vines" block. Intense berry flavours, combined with oak, and vanilla. Always a popular wine at Wild Goose.
  Merlot
Grows very well in the Okanagan. Enjoys long hot summers and warm autumn seasons. Exhibits plum, berry and black current overtones. Medium to intense in darkness. Our Style-Maximum hang time in the vineyards is the key to a good Merlot. Our Merlot is always bottled with firm tannins to allow for ageability.
  Pinot Blanc
The variety that gets little respect. Grown throughout the Okanagan, this variety produces wines of various style. Apple, pear, and orchard fruit dominate this variety. These flavours can easily be lost during production if a malolactic fermentation is induced. Our Style-Wild Goose loves producing Pinot Blanc. We do a clean cool ferment resulting in outstanding flavour extraction. Melon and apple flavours combined with crisp acid and a perfume finish make this a popular wine with consumers. This wine always wins numerous awards for Wild Goose.
  Pinot Gris
The new kid on the block in B.C. Produces wines of great mouthfeel. Can be oaked, put through malolactic fermentation. Flavours include pear, flint, rhubarb, and apple. Our Style-Slightly golden in colour, our Pinot Gris exhibits lively pear flavours with a crisp finish. One of the most popular wines at Wild Goose
  Pinot Noir
The "Burgundy" grape. Widely grown in the Okanagan. Quality is very dependant on the weather. Cherry, raspberry, and soft tannins typify the flavours of Pinot Noir. Our Style-A hot fermentation helps extract colour and flavour. The wine is then barrel aged in American and French oak for a period of 6-12 months.
  Riesling
The noble grape. One of the most versatile grapes in the world. Grows superbly in the Okanagan Valley. Year after year exhibits flavours of apple, citrus, and as it ages, classic petrol and ripe fruit. Our Style-Our site is suited to growing perfect Riesling. This is one of our favorite wines because nothing says British Columbia better then a glass of Riesling! Our southern facing slopes allow perfect ripening every vintage. Wild Goose always makes this in an off dry style with loads of fruit and a crisp clean finish.
  Riesling Late Harvest
Grapes are left on the vine after the regular crop is picked to allow for further ripening of the fruit. Intense ripe apple, pear and apricot flavours make late harvest wines popular. Our Style-Our south facing slopes allow for perfect ripening of late harvest Riesling. A slow cool fermentation help in intensifying the flavours of apple, pear, and orchard fruit.
  Tawny Pipe
A new dessert wine produced in the Okanagan. Made in a port style using the continuous fermentation method.(Sugar continuously being added to the fermentation) Our Style-Marechal Foch is ripened on the vine until 26-28 percent sugar is achieved. The Foch is then fermented on the skins to extract colour and then the wine is transferred to oak where the wine continues to ferment and sugar is added. Aged 8-12 months in new oak.
