Nantucket Vineyard

Nantucket Vineyard is a small winery located in Nantucket Island, MA, owned and operated by Dean and Melissa Long. In 1981 they planted ten acres of grape vines in hopes of producing enough grapes to keep the winery making plenty of wine. Unfortunately nature had other ideas.
Because of low fruit production caused by the salty wind blowing off the ocean and the destruction to the vines caused by the occasional hurricane, in 1997 they began to make their wines instead from premium grapes grown in Yakima Valley, WA, Long Island, NY, and Central Valley, CA.

Chardonnay
This is a delicious example of Long Island Chardonnay. The wine was fermented in French oak barrels and partially in stainless steel and blended prior to bottling. Wonderful flavors of citrus and pineapple and an added touch of oak yields a subtle but apparent vanilla nose. 50% barrel aged and 1000% delicious.

Merlot
The grapes are from the Columbia River Appellation of Washington State. Rather dark but far from the black color seen in Merlot these days suggesting high extraction. Nose is distinctly fraise du bois with a hint of blackberry. The mouth is full bodied with fruit flavors and has a nice peppery note. Drink now or cellar for the future.

Pinot Gris – Dry
This bottle delivers the essential character true to the Northwest style: a light-bodied white wine, crisp and vibrant, with hints of green apple, kiwi melon, and lemongrass.

Prodeano
With extraordinary tiny bubbles our Italian prosecco style is made with Pinot Gris and named for our vintner Dean. Prodeano has a refined sensation of drinking bubbly with light carbonation so as not to mask its rich bouquet.

Riesling
Riesling, a classic German grape variety, is typically dominated by aromas of honey and apricot and can be surprisingly complex in its finish. Grown in Westport , MA , outs is a very dry style wine driven by an expansive floral aroma and crisp fruit flavors. Hints of early spring earthiness compliment the light lemon and lingering berry flavors.

Sailor's Delight
A complex blend of Syrah and Viognier from two premier vineyards in The Columbia River Valley of Washington and Oregon reveals full luscious flavors of blackberry, prune, and jam. This wine is perfect for entertaining and enhances everyday fare from clambakes to barbeque.

Syrah
This red grape gained its notoriety in France 's Rhone Valley . It has also become famous in South Africa and Australia , where it is called Shiraz . Syrah's are tannic and very dark in color. They abound with flavors of black currant and plums as well as black pepper and spice. The Syrah vineyards that Dean uses are located in The Dalles region of Oregon along the Columbia River Gorge. Simply put “We love it!”

Zinfandel
A famous California varietal since the 1800's, red Zinfandels are hearty and robust with flavors of black cherries and pepper. Our Zin has a vibrant nose with an aroma of ripe raspberries and nuances of oak and earthy bark.
