Terremoto Cellars
|
|
We are self described "warehouse warriors". Terremoto Cellars will be another of the growing "no tasting room" wineries. In an effort to not lose our focus of creating earth moving wines, we have chosen an industrial location for our winemaking facility. The winery is nestled in amongst other commercial ventures, seamlessly blending into its surroundings without a sign to give away what happens behind its locked doors. Most of the winemaking work happens at wee hours of the morning and night. (Did we mention we have "day jobs"?) A non-conventional winery with non-conventional hours. Unless you happen to catch a glimpse of a grape or barrel, it is unlikely you would ever know what we are up to. Suffice to say, we like it that way.

Asbill Vineyard Oak Knoll Cabernet Sauvignon
Our Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Asbill Vineyard, a small vineyard located West of Highway 29 on Orchard Avenue in the Oak Knoll AVA at the Southern end of Napa. The vineyard is owned by Scott and Pauline Asbill, who meticulously oversee all vineyard operations and allow us the comfort in knowing that the product we pick up from them at harvest puts us half way to making great wine.

Cabernet Franc Rose—North Coast
With a rich pink hue, intense tropical fruit aromas and a pleasantly tannic structure, this rose keeps you wanting more on those warm summer afternoons. The rose is created in a style more reminiscent of European dry rose wines and not those typical sweet pink wines of California.

Suisun Valley Chardonnay
Chardonnay has proven itself over the last several years as a chameleon grape, taking on many winemaking styles. It can shine with the crisp ripe flavors reminiscent of a Sauvignon Blanc. It can flex its muscles when holding up to barrel fermentations, sur lies aging and barrel aging. This Chardonnay straddles the best of both worlds with its elegantly floral nose with hints of pineapple and the tropics. There is a slight earthiness acquired from the extended lees contact . A nice green apple acidity carries you from beginning to end. This Chardonnay pairs with a wide range of foods, but lends itself to spicy foods at one extreme and rich decadent foods at the other.

Suisun Valley Viognier
Viognier isn’t a grape for the faint of heart grower or winemaker. It is said to be at its best, when harvested by taste rather than by the numbers. This vintage proved to be no exception. Harvested at the peak of maturity from 15 year old vines, the fruit was picked clean with pronounced flavors and aromatics. A white wine for red wine drinkers is how this wine can best be described. With its enchanting aromas of honeysuckle, peaches and lilac, balanced flavors of apricot and kiwi and a hint of minerals, this Viognier is an adventure for the senses. The fruity and floral aroma can trick one into thinking sweet, but this entirely stainless steel cold fermented Viognier has no residual sugar. Drink it now to enjoy the bounty of fruit and aromatic expressions. It pairs beautifully with a wide range of foods—from spicy dishes and strong cheeses to simply prepared seafood of chicken dishes and can hold its own with a bounty of fresh herbs.

Windsor Oaks Vineyard - Chalk Hill Syrah
This bold Syrah was skillfully aged entirely in a blend of new and 2 year old French Oak from a variety of coopers. This wine carries with it a lot of dark fruit, blackberry, plums and hints of vanilla. The tannins are well rounded and contribute a nice mouthfeel with a slight hint of toasty oak showcasing the fruit forward nature of this Syrah. Delicious to enjoy now and certainly cellar worthy, if you are able to hold back after you enjoy this earth moving wine.
