Suisun Valley Viognier

Suisun Valley Viognier Wine Details
Price: $15.00 per bottle

Description: Viognier isn’t a grape for the faint of heart grower or winemaker. It is said to be at its best, when harvested by taste rather than by the numbers. This vintage proved to be no exception. Harvested at the peak of maturity from 15 year old vines, the fruit was picked clean with pronounced flavors and aromatics. A white wine for red wine drinkers is how this wine can best be described. With its enchanting aromas of honeysuckle, peaches and lilac, balanced flavors of apricot and kiwi and a hint of minerals, this Viognier is an adventure for the senses. The fruity and floral aroma can trick one into thinking sweet, but this entirely stainless steel cold fermented Viognier has no residual sugar. Drink it now to enjoy the bounty of fruit and aromatic expressions. It pairs beautifully with a wide range of foods—from spicy dishes and strong cheeses to simply prepared seafood of chicken dishes and can hold its own with a bounty of fresh herbs.

Varietal Definition
Viognier:
The most acclaimed white wine grape from France's Rhône Valley, Viognier is a highly aromatic varietal, with a flavor profile that could include peach, apricot, nectarine, lichee, musk and flower blossom. The heady perfume of this varietal is one of its trademarks, although its flavors are sometimes problematic in matching with food. However, it does well with lobster, crab and moderately flavored fish. Use it as an apéritif as an alternative to Chardonnay. The "Rhône Rangers" in California have done an excellent job promoting this varietal.
