Walla Walla Vintners

Walla Walla Vintners Walla Walla Vintners -- bonded in 1995 -- is a limited-production winery dedicated to making handcrafted, premium red wines --Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot -- cellared and aged in American and French oaks. The winemakers are Myles Anderson, and Gordon Venneri. This duet produced homecrafted wines for many years before making commercial wines. The homecrafted venture permitted them to practice winemaking, take mistakes to the dump, and forge a successful partnership. Neither partner has given up his day job - this is still a hobby business. Gordon is a CPA and field agent for Knight of Columbus Insurance and Myles is a teaching psychologist at the local community college. The new winery, designed and built by Alan Jones, is located off Mill Creek Road on 17 acres near the Blue Mountains. The winery is open for tasting and sales featuring its newest release during two weekends a year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall. To reach the winery from US 12, take the Rooks Park exit. The winery is located 3.2 miles east from Isaac Avenue on Mill Creek Road in Walla Walla.

Directions
Take the "Rooks Park" exit off SR 12. Cross Isaacs onto Mill Creek Road. From the Isaacs Avenue to the winery is 3.2 miles. Winery is on the left.

  Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Walla Walla Vintners is known for our complex and compelling Cabernet Sauvignon. The core of this age-worthy wine contains 80% Cabernet Sauvignon from Cold Creek, Goose Ridge, Dwelley Jones, and Sagemoor Vineyards. We added 10% Merlot from Killian and Sagemoor Vineyards, 7% Cabernet Franc from Cold Creek Vineyard to extend the mouth-feel and a 3% dollop of Malbec to enrich the spicy chocolate finish. It has a chokecherry nose with a mid-palate of caramel and a hint of light brown sugar and a stunning ending of Herbs de Provence with lavender and Hershey's Kisses.
  Columbia Valley Sangiovese
The Sangiovese has become one of our signature wines and the most requested by customers. This is one of the finest that we have crafted with 90% Sangiovese from Dwelley Jones, Kiona, and Watkins Vineyards. We elevated the pleasure of this wine by adding 5% Syrah from Goose Ridge Vineyards and 5% Malbec from Snipes Canyon Vineyard. The Sangiovese has a classic leather saddle nose along with a fruity mid-palate and a finish of black olive and caponata with capers. It will pair well with a black truffle pizza with a topping of Pecorino Romano shavings.
Cordon Grove Vineyard Cuvée Yakima Valley
We are known for our quality handcrafted Cuvée. This vineyard designated blend is a "knock out" with 53% Merlot and 42% Cabernet Franc with a splash of Pepper Bridge Malbec. The Cordon Grove Vineyard is an "affair of the heart" for the Gary Grove Family. Located in Prosser, Washington, the vineyard is one of our favorite terroirs. This Cuvée is a wonderful marriage of a viticulturist and winemakers waltzing together to achieve a magnifi cent wine. You can "taste the place" in this stylist blend with the color of an old red 1967 VW Bug, a fresh wild strawberry nose, a velvety mouth feel of deep fruit, a chewy mid-palate, and a sweet-edged, vibrant fi nish will dazzles your senses. If it were thicker, you would want to drizzle it over French Vanilla ice cream.
Sagemoor Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley
Sagemoor Vineyard has become one of our very favorite vineyards. This powerful and intense wine contains 76% old vine Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. It has a dark tooth-staining blackberry hue and layers of flavors that grab and hold on to your palate. This expressive, plump wine will have a long life, so it can be enjoyed over the next ten years. This beautifully balanced wine contains jam-packed flavors of Marion berry, blueberry, dark ox heart cherries and Fran?s Chocolate Sauce. The echoing finish is pure and focused. A food pairing with this flavorful wine is roasted rack of lamb coated with toasted, buttered breadcrumbs with thyme and Maille Dijon Mustard, cheesy twice-baked russet potatoes and roasted asparagus.
  Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Franc
This wine is a brilliant arrangement of flavors made up of 88% Cabernet Franc from Cold Creek, Kendall and Weinbau Vineyards and 12% Merlot from Killian, Sagemoor and Spring Creek Vineyards. The aromatics in the nose remind us of fresh wild strawberries with a touch of rhubarb. The mid-palate is loaded with diverse flavors of herbs, roasted eggplant, black olive, and basil. The lingering fruit cake and spice box finish is stunning. This is one of the most dramatic Francs we have crafted and it will age well. This Franc is delightful with grilled fresh salmon on a cedar plank with sides of fresh peas and pearl onions with sweet cream butter and chopped Boston lettuce salad.
  Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Walla Walla Valley vineyards were the major contributors to this very compelling wine. It is 83% Cabernet Sauvignon from five vineyards: Dwelley Jones, LeFore, Seven Hills, Pepper Bridge and Windrow. The addition of 5% Malbec from Pepper Bridge Vineyard, 6% Cabernet Franc from the Dennis Pleasant Vineyard and the 6% of Walla Walla Valley Merlot gives it a copious complexity. This generous wine explodes with a ripe berry nose followed by a beginning of caramelized fig dusted in light brown sugar. The midpalate of roasted dark coffee takes you to the grand finish of "S'mores" made of toasted Campfire Marshmallows sandwiched by bars of Moonstruck dark chocolate.
  Walla Walla Valley Merlot
This is an impressive mouth filling wine with 88% Merlot from Goose Ridge, Killian, and Spring Creek Vineyards. The Merlot was enriched with 9% Cold Creek and Kendall Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon from Cold Creek Vineyard. Wow! What an outstanding mixture of excellent vineyards. The Vahlroma sweet chocolate nose is an attention getter, followed by a concentrated blend of creamy blackberry and a knockout finish of chocolate, espresso, and mocha that does not let loose for 30 seconds. It is a perfect match with an oven roasted lamb shank, a side of cranberry beans cooked with sage and served with fresh olive oil.
  Washington State Cuvee
We have produced cuvee? (special blend) since 1996 and customers clamor for these savory blends. There are seven vineyards and five grape varietals in this lovely mixture. Merlot (55%) from Goose Ridge, Killian and Spring Creek Vineyards dominates this rich cuvee?. It also contains 25% Cabernet Sauvignon from Cold Creek, Goose Ridge and Dwelley Jones Vineyards. We added 10% Cabernet Franc from Cold Creek and Kendall Vineyards, and finished with a bit of Syrah (7.5%) from Goose Ridge Vineyard and Malbec (2.5%) from Snipes Canyon Vineyard. This cuvee? starts with a vanilla bean nose followed by a touch of spice box, cigar and berry jam with an astonishing, lengthy finish of dried fruit and creamy milk chocolate. The 2004 Cuvee goes nicely with grilled veal chops dressed in fresh salted garlic, aged balsamic vinegar, virgin olive oil, and fresh ground pepper served with sides of sautéed mushrooms and grated zucchini with cream and basil pesto.
