Sagemoor Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley

Sagemoor Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley Wine Details
Price: $40.00 per bottle

Description: Sagemoor Vineyard has become one of our very favorite vineyards. This powerful and intense wine contains 76% old vine Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. It has a dark tooth-staining blackberry hue and layers of flavors that grab and hold on to your palate. This expressive, plump wine will have a long life, so it can be enjoyed over the next ten years. This beautifully balanced wine contains jam-packed flavors of Marion berry, blueberry, dark ox heart cherries and Fran?s Chocolate Sauce. The echoing finish is pure and focused. A food pairing with this flavorful wine is roasted rack of lamb coated with toasted, buttered breadcrumbs with thyme and Maille Dijon Mustard, cheesy twice-baked russet potatoes and roasted asparagus.

Varietal Definition
Cabernet Sauvignon:
Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely planted and significant among the five dominant varieties in France’s Bordeaux region, as well as the most successful red wine produced in California. Though it was thought to be an ancient variety, recent genetic studies at U.C. Davis have determined that Cabernet Sauvignon is actually the hybrid offspring of Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon berries are small with black, thick and very tough skin. This toughness makes the grapes fairly resistant to disease and spoilage and able to withstand some autumn rains with little or no damage. It is a mid to late season ripener. These growth characteristics, along with its flavor appeal have made Cabernet Sauvignon one of the most popular red wine varieties worldwide.
