Cayuga Lake's oldest winery has more to offer than world class wines and a magnificent view of Cayuga Lake.
Colorful bottles, spectacular labels, and the nautical theme "Wine if by Land-Tug if by Sea" wines have intrigued wine writers, connoisseurs, and travelers for more than two decades. Lucas Vineyards' nautical wines are inspired by one of the Founder's occupations as a Tug Boat Captain in the waters of New York Harbor-the home of the Lucas family before moving to the Finger Lakes in the early 1970's. As pioneers in the boutique New York wine industry, the Lucas' nautical wines- Tug Boat Red, Tug Boat White, Dry Dock, Blues and Captain's Belle- kept the winery afloat in the early days. A lot has changed since then. Currently, Owner and Winemaker Ruth Lucas releases medal-winning Methodé Champenoise Champagnes, traditional European varieties including Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir, as well as French American varietals in addition to the seven nautical wines.
The Lucas Family and staff host over 40,000 visitors annually in their stylish tasting room that has a "WOW" view of Cayuga Lake. Making the facility complete is one of the most unique gift shops in the Finger Lakes Wine industry. The gift shop is home to hundreds of grape and nautical goodies including great t-shirts, stunning stained glass, wineracks, glassware and wine accessories.

BLUES
Bright, crisp, and smooth. This refreshing blend of Seyval and and Cayuga grapes is a perfect example of a versatile white wine. Served with food or by itself, it is a true delight!

BUTTERFLY
This sweeter style white has flavors reminiscent of baked apples. Clean with a long smooth finish. A proprietary blend that is perfect for the sweeter wine lover. Look for the purple bottle with the gorgeous butterfly gracing the label.

CABERNET FRANC
Reminiscent of the Cab Franc from the Loire Valley of France. Oak aged Vinifera red with hints of cedar in the nose followed by bright cherry flavors and supple tannins.

CAPTAIN'S BELLE
Highlighted by fresh strawberries in the nose, this blush wine has luscious watermelon & strawberry flavors. The Belle is named after Ruth Lucas. Smooth and delicious - it's a great party wine!

CAYUGA WHITE
Perfectly balanced with wonderful apple and pear fruit flavors. An outstanding semi-dry white wine - and a great value! The Cayuga White Grape is known as the Great White of the Finger Lakes.

CHARDONNAY
This classic Reserve Chardonnay has toasty vanilla and caramel hints from 100% oak fermentation. Subtle lime flavors combine with a rich mouthfeel and lingering finish. Try it with your favorite seafood dishes.

DRY DOCK
Bursting with black cherry flavors, this oak aged Baco Noir has velvety smooth tanins and a delicate finish. Great with steak and portobello mushrooms, an excellent dry red at a great value.

DRY RIESLING
Gold Medal Winner! Summer in a glass all year long! This wonderful dry Vinifera has full juicy peach flavors and a long, dry finish. A great example of a Dry Riesling.

RESERVE CABERNET FRANC

This dry blend of Chardonnay and Cayuga has a rich, creamy texture with hints of pear. Reminiscent of an oak-aged Pinot Gris in character. A portion of the sales of STARS will be donated to The American Diabetes Association and The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
