Ponte Family Estate Winery
|
|
Ponte Family Estate Winery is one of Temecula's most appealing wineries. The Ponte family, who has been growing grapes in Temecula since 1984, opened the winery in May of 2003 right in the heart of Temecula Valley Wine Country. The journey began back in 1984 when the Pontes purchased over 500 acres of Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc vineyards. At first they sold the fruit to other California wineries but now they are proud to offer a full array of wines under the Ponte label. Ponte is now one of Temecula’s finest winemaking facilities. Nestled inside 350 acres of lush vineyards, the winery has a charming and sophisticated atmosphere. It is the perfect setting for enjoying a beautiful day in the Temecula Wine Country. Every detail of the grounds has been meticulously thought out for guests enjoyment; there are open-beamed ceilings in the Tasting Room and a beautifully restored Mission style Barrel Room, which houses the wines while they age. Out in the landscpaed gardens you can enjoy breathtaking views of the vineyards and mountains. All this to make sure your next visit to Ponte is the perfect day in the country!

2004 Ponte Merlot
Rich aromas of red berry fruit and strawberry jam. Soft and round with velvety tannins. A very drinkable wine, the Ponte Family Estate Merlot is a hearty companion to a wide variety of foods, from pork loin to the finest filet.

Beverino
Beverino means "easy to drink" in Italian and once you take your first sip, you'll see why we gave this red its name. Ponte Family Estate's Beverino is unique in that it can be served either cool or at room temperature with almost any food, from spicy entrees to rich desserts. This wine's subtle sweetness is highlighted by soft blueberry and ripe strawberry, which makes it perfect for a romantic spring time picnic.
|
Dolcetto
The Dolcetto grape is grown almost exclusively in Italy's Piedmont region along with fellow varietals Nebbiolo and Barbera. Fortunately, the weather and growing patterns in the Temecula Valley are similar to those in Piedmont, allowing Ponte to produce a delicious Dolcetto of their own. The Ponte Dolcetto is a rich, smooth wine with black cherry and licorice flavors and a subtle almond finish. It is ready to drink now with everything from wood-fired pizzas to pastas to grilled meats and red fruit desserts.
|
Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo takes its name from the Italian "nebbia" (fog) that forms over the vineyards during harvest season. This beloved Ponte wine is a very dry, full-bodied wine with tastes of dried plums, raspberries, roses and truffles. The robust aromas and flavors of Nebbiolo are best with game, roasted lamb, grilled steak, hearty winter stews and smoked meats. Nebbiolo has developed an avid, dedicated following and we are proud to release it once again

Pinot Grigio
Pinot Grigio, the most popular white wine in Italy, is fast becoming a favorite in the United States. "Grigio," meaning gray in Italian, describes the grayish hue of the grape. The Ponte Family Estate Pinot Grigio is fresh and crisp with lots of citrus and mango flavors. This wine tastes best chilled and enjoyed with entrees such as chicken, fish, and light pasta dishes.
|
Ponte Barbera
Our 2005 Barbera is a wonderfully bold red wine, full of body and red fruit flavor. The Barbera grape, originally from the Piedmont region of Italy, is well suited for the Temecula Valley growing conditions. This big red enhances the flavor of creamy risottos, salty cheeses and tomato pasta dishes.
|
Ponte Chardonnay
Finely structured with rich citrus fruit character, apple, and vanilla. Enjoy with fresh fish, poultry or pasta with light cream sauces.
|
Ponte Graciela
Named after Claudio Ponte's mother, our newest vintage of Graciela is a delightfully delicious white blend with a grassy aroma and a grapefruit and pear-like flavor. This dry blend is sometimes described as "peachy" and has a bright finish. Great with spring vegetables, lemon pasta and seafood.
|
Ponte Isabel
Isabel is a light and fruity white wine with fresh peach and pink grapefruit flavors, perfect when served chilled as an aperitif, but it will show its true character when paired with spicy Thai or Chinese food. Isabel is also excellent with fruit-based desserts like peach cobbler and strawberry tarts.
|
Ponte Juliet
As charming as its namesake, this delightful Rose is a sweet wine to be enjoyed chilled with a salad or dessert. The cheery pink hue reflects the juicy strawberry and watermelon notes of the wine. Try it with fresh corn and tomato salad, strawberry shortcake, or chilled melon gazpacho. A Ponte best-seller!
|
Ponte Meritage
A cross between the words "merit" and "heritage," the term describes a bold and flavorful blend of several varietals. Our spicy 2005 Meritage has a delightful boysenberry nose followed by delicious flavors of vanilla and oak. A nicely balanced red wine, Meritage is ready to drink now, especially with rack of lamb or prime rib.
|
Ponte Petite Syrah
Ponte's Petite Syrah is a rich, robust red wine. Jammy, peppery and intensely fruity with highlights of blueberries and blackberries, our Petite Syrah is delicious with hearty foods such as grilled filet, ribs or stong cheeses.
|
Ponte Riesling
Ponte's wildy popular 2005 Riesling is a classic example of an off-dry German Riesling. This white is bursting with ripe peach and pear flavors with enough acidity to compliment many types of foods. Chill a bottle and serve with spicy cuisines such as Indian, Thai and Ethiopian. Or serve after dinner with fruit tarts. An incredibly refreshing wine, perfect in the warm spring and summer months.
|
Ponte Sherry
This is Ponte Winery's version of the famous, fortified wine from Spain. The four types of Sherry are fino, the driest type of Sherry, Manzanilla, a fino Sherry made around the port of Sanlucar de Barrameda, Amontillado, a Sherry aged under a layer of yeast then exposed to oxygen, producing a darker color, and finally a sweet Sherry. Ponte's Sherry mostly resembles the sweet type, with a deliciously nutty flavor reminiscient of buttered popcorn and caramel. Traditionally an after-dinner drink, we've found that our Sherry is lovely over ice and served with appetizers such as salty cashews and Spanish olives. Try Sherry with a white chocolate dessert for a little piece of heaven!

Ponte Syrah
Syrah is an old world Rhone varietal that has been grown in southern France at least since Roman times. The delicious Ponte Family Estate Syrah is known for its deep color and fruity flavor. Enjoy it with pork loin, rich pasta dishes or your favorite grilled steak.
|
Ponte Viognier
Viognier is an old Rhone varietal that produces an exotic, rare white wine with a floral aroma and a dry, citrus, fruity flavor. This 2005 Viognier is best paired with rich seafood selections, Mediterranean cuisine and lighter meats. Viognier is also wonderful with sauteed salmon, tuna, halibut and mahi mahi.
|
Super Tuscan
Ponte is proud to introduce it's second vintage of Super Tuscan, a lip-smacking, berry bursting red made from a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Bold, dense, and completely delicious, our 2005 Super Tuscan contains juicy red berry (pomegranate, blackberry) notes, with a hint of oakey vanilla, all followed by a smooth finish. It is fantastic with rich, fresh pesto sauces and pizza.
|
Tempranillo
Never before released from Ponte is our new Tempranillo red wine. Native to Spain, the Tempranillo grape is the main varietal used to make Rioja, the base of traditional Sangria. Its name comes from the Spanish word temprano (“early”) which refers to the fact that the grape ripens several weeks earlier than most Spanish red grapes. Ponte’s Tempranillo is deep ruby in color with an enticing aroma of red berries, vanilla and herbs. It is medium-bodied and a great choice to serve with spicy food.

Zinfandel Port
Late night relaxation requires a little something extra. People in the know will uncork a bottle of our Ponte Zinfandel Port. The dried plum, dark chocolate, and vanilla flavors will warm you from the inside out. The Ponte Port makes a wonderful after dinner digestif and is delicious with blue cheese or chocolate desserts.
