2002 Northwest White
An enticing blend of Chardonnay, Semillon, Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Viognier from the Northwest states of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. The resulting wine is soft on the palate with notes of honey and orange blossom.
2002 Reserve Meritage
The blend for our first meritage is comprised of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 6% Malbec, and 4% Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet backbone makes this a powerful wine. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc round the edges and provide additional complexity, and the Malbec contributes a floral note and inky dark color.
2003 Blauer Zweigelt
Blauer Zweigelt is a unique grape originally from Austria. It was created in the early 20th century by an Austrian scientist who crossed the soft plush blaufrankisch (lemburger) with the Beaujolais like Saint Laurent. The result is a medium tannin, bright cherry, ready to drink wine.
2003 Riesling
This straw colored wine finishes off-dry with a touch of sweetness, but has a nice crisp acidity. It is soft on the palate with aromas of apricot and lemon with a hint of honey.
Cabernet Sauvignon
A bold flavored wine with ample tannin and body. Aromas and flavors of ripe red fruit with hints of herbs and distinct gravelly notes. This sophisticated wine also has underlying hints of black olive and bitter sweet chocolate on the finish.
Chardonnay
100% Arena Valley Vineyard fruit was fermented 65% in one and two year old oak barrels with the remainder fermented at cold temperature in stainless tanks. The result is a buttery style with vanilla and oak aromas. The mouthfeel has a nice citrus acidity with a hint of fruit cocktail on the finish.
Late Harvest Riesling
The grapes for our late harvest were picked a full month after our standard Riesling, giving it a higher sugar content to start. Fermentation was arrested by rapid chilling to leave a residual sugar content of 5.5%. Strong mineral and lime aromas are balanced by a soft peach finish.
Merlot
The grapes for the 2003 Snake River Merlot were sourced 100% from the Arena Valley Vineyard. The wine was aged in 60 % new French and American oak barrels and 40% one year old barrels for twelve months. The wine is full-bodied and complex with a firm acid backbone and clear garnet color. The aromas are cherry, cassis and spicy oak. It finishes smooth with a hint of bittersweet chocolate.
Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon
This blend of two award winning vintages is full-bodied but has softer tannins than our traditional Cabernet. It has a deep garnet color and flavors of dark cherry and eucalyptus with some mineral components.
Unoaked Chardonnay
If you are like Scott and Susan (the winemaker and his wife), constantly arguing over chardonnay styles, we have a new offering to appeal to the other half. The unoaked chardonnay presents a leaner body style without the buttery texture and aroma. Slightly higher in acidity, lemon notes dominate, making this an excellent wine with most light foods.
White Riesling
The Riesling grapes in our 2004 Riesling were 100% estate grown. Fermentation and aging was done 100 % in stainless steel tanks. This semi-sweet, straw colored wine has a lingering finish and lemon drop sweetness balanced by crisp mineral tinted acidity. It is soft and thick on the palate with aromas of apricot and lime with a hint of honey.
