Topanga Vineyards

Topanga Vineyards When husband and wife team Sandy Garber and Ralph Meyer settled in Southern California's Topanga Canyon, their sights were not set on the vineyard way of life. As they looked around the rolling hills of their quiet surroundings, better known as a Hollywood hideaway than an agricultural hotbed, they began to see their home as Los Angeles County's answer to the Southern Rhône Valley. So began the planting, first 90 vines on their canyon property and then expanding into a grower's co-op with friends and neighbors. However, these grapes were reserved for home winemaking and entertaining, while Garber and Meyer extended their enterprise into the Central Coast. Their fast-growing commercial venture, under the TV label, combines the couple's experience in home winemaking with fine fruit sourced from Edna Valley, Clarksburg and the Napa Valley to produce distinctly Californian styles of Rhône-inspired wines. Sandy was the sales and marketing director for The Chalone Wine Group in California from 1982–1998. In additional to her day-to-day responsibility for Topanga Vineyards, she owns and manages Garber & Company, a wine distributorship in Los Angeles. Ralph works in the film industry as a location manager. Both worked as sommeliers in the '80s, Sandy at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel and Ralph at Michael's Restaurant in Santa Monica, before embarking on their current venture. Topanga Vineyards world headquarters is located in Topanga Canyon, nestled in the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains of Los Angeles.

Products

  Aurora Syrah Rose
This wine is a Saigné—meaning it is juice that we drain off our Topanga Syrah before the wine is fermented. The juice receives 12–16 hours of skin contact and is then fermented in neutral barrels and aged sur lies for six months. Before bottling, we blend in 9% Viognier. Lots of watermelon and strawberry aromas. Only 94 cases produced—and it's selling fast!
  Black & White Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2004 vintage was very high quality, This wine was one lot of Napa Valley Cabernet, blended with a small amount of Petite Verdot. Our goal is to produce a wine that is stylistically consistent from vintage to vintage. The wine is rich, fruit forward and ready to drink. It exhibits generous amounts of both oak and fruit. Because we are purchasing finished wines, we are able to offer our customers a great Napa Valley wine at a very reasonable price. Enjoy!
  Celadon Grenache Blanc
The fruit is from Esperanza Vineyard in Clarksburg, California. Only 150 cases of this wine have been produced. It was made under the guidance of Larry Brooks. The wine was fermented in neutral barrels, with lees stirring. It is very rich and viscous in the mouth, with peach aromatics.
  Central Coast Syrah
This Syrah is a distinctly California style, inspired by the great wines of the Rhone, in both flavor and texture. Ripe fruit, and oak that complements, rather than dominates the flavor, with soft tanins, well balanced acidity and lots of spice. White pepper and violets dominate the aroma. Mouthfilling. Braised short ribs, great roast chicken, BBQ’ed anything,, and foods with thyme and rosemary or Nicoise olives are great compliments to this wine. Always try to cook over a fire of white or red oak, and throw some fresh rosemary or thyme on to the fire before grilling. Lamb chops marinated in thyme, grilled and served with a balsamic reduction are way good! Not bad with a pizza topped with roasted red peppers, olives, and goat cheese….or even some proscuitto wrapped and grilled dates…..
  Khroma Cabernet
We crush. We ferment. We dance around the tanks to scare away any bad juju — and this is what we end up with!
