Central Coast Syrah

Central Coast Syrah Wine Details
Price:

Description: This Syrah is a distinctly California style, inspired by the great wines of the Rhone, in both flavor and texture. Ripe fruit, and oak that complements, rather than dominates the flavor, with soft tanins, well balanced acidity and lots of spice. White pepper and violets dominate the aroma. Mouthfilling. Braised short ribs, great roast chicken, BBQ’ed anything,, and foods with thyme and rosemary or Nicoise olives are great compliments to this wine. Always try to cook over a fire of white or red oak, and throw some fresh rosemary or thyme on to the fire before grilling. Lamb chops marinated in thyme, grilled and served with a balsamic reduction are way good! Not bad with a pizza topped with roasted red peppers, olives, and goat cheese….or even some proscuitto wrapped and grilled dates…..

Varietal Definition
Syrah:
Syrah is the eight hundred pound gorilla of Rhone grapes! In the vineyard and the winery, Syrah is typically an easy grape to work with - healthy, early ripening, resistant to mildew and rot; suitable for winemaking in a variety of styles. The wines from Syrah are tannic without being harsh. The wines will have a taste and smell of dark blue fruit like blackberries and blackcurrant, with a strong spicy side where one can find freshly ground pepper and other spices. Syrah is famous for its part in the French blends, such as Côtes du Rhone and Châteauneuf du Pape.
