Description:
Spring was unseasonably warm and dry, resulting in early budbreak, putting us 5 to 10 days ahead of normal. Pinot Grigio in Oakville bloomed 18 days earlier than normal. May was quite cool, which helped to moderate vine growth, thus balancing the amount of leaf canopy relative to crop level. Cool mornings, hot afternoons and warm evenings led to a very early harvest for Pinot Grigio, with 80% of harvest completed between 11 and 18 August.
