Lirico

Lirico Wine Details
Price: $15.00 per bottle

Description: Lirico is produced in the tradition of the famous white table wines of Orvieto and the Veneto. The Vidal Blanc grape retains much of the character of the parent Trebbiano and we have utilized this to reproduce the clean, crisp body familiar in Northern Italian wines. Lirico, like all our white wines, is fermented in stainless steel under cool conditions to retain maximum varietal character. The resulting wine is dry, but well balanced, and matches pasta as well as seafood dishes and is robust enough to complement the spiciest of foods. This is definitely our favorite food wine!

Varietal Definition
Trebbiano:
Trebbiano in Italy and Ugni Blanc in France. Regardless of the name, this varietal is tremendously prolific; low in alcohol but high in acidity, it is found in almost any basic white Italian wine. It is so ingrained in Italian winemaking that it is actually a sanctioned, ingredient of the blend used for (red) Chianti and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. However, most current Tuscan producers choose not add it to their wines, any longer.
Vidal Blanc:
A white French hybrid once widely planted in the south of France, it is more suitable for growing in warm and humid climates like the South. These vines are prolific, producing large golden berries, suitable for eating out of hand as table grapes. When vinified, Villard Blanc makes a fruity, mildly intense white wine (somewhat Sauvignon Blanc like) of fairly neutral and simple flavors. Primarily used for blending.
