La Crosse

La Crosse Wine Details
Price:

Description: Our 2009 La Crosse wine was replicated from our previous years La Crosse by popular demand. The wine is composed of four different grapes but primarily of La Crosse (76%); and then Brianna (9%), Vignoles (9%), and Prairie Star (6%). The La Crosse grapes were harvested on August 29, 2009 from Glacial Till Vineyard and partner vineyard, Kimmel Orchards. After being crushed, de-stemmed, and pressed, the grape must was inoculated with Rudesheimer yeast strain. Once the wines were finished we then blended them to create our 2009 La Crosse. The finished wine is classified as a medium sweet wine and was designed to be light and fruity, with a nose of green apple and hints of citrus flavors. Drink chilled and enjoy now.

Varietal Definition
La Crosse:
LaCrosse is a part of a long line of successful Elmer Swenson-created grapes. A hybrid of Seyval Blanc and the Minn. 78 x S.1000, the vine produces grapes capable of making good quality, fruity white wine. Compared to its parent Seyval, the vine is cold hardier, and ripens slightly earlier. Grown in Minnesota and Wisconsin, the high-yielding vine will do well in all the upper Midwest states with short growing seasons and cold winters. It has average susceptibility to the usual diseases.
