GHV Sabrevois

GHV Sabrevois Wine Details
Price:

Description: The sabrevois (sah-bray-vway) grape was named after the village near the Richeliu River in southern Quebec. Wines made from Sabrevois have a berry-like taste and aroma, and deep red color with hints of pepper, spice, and berry, and substantial tannin structure rarely found in cold climate grape wines. Serve with foods made with tomatoes. Our first 'estate" grown wine.

Varietal Definition
Sabrevois:
Sabrevois yields wines with good fruit and deep colour, and, if fully ripened, be quite aromatic in character. Usually grown in Canada. It responds well to oak treatments, and would be quite useful served with foods made with tomatoes. Makes a highly aromatic rose if pressed very early. Dry red varietal sabrevois should age well and may require two years in bottle to round off the rough edges. Probably best as part of a blend with other red hybrid varieties known for higher sugars (say maybe Frontenac or Landot Noir).
