Russian River Valley Chardonnay

Russian River Valley Chardonnay Wine Details
Price:

Description: We have sourced some of the finest Chardonnay fruit from one of the greatest wine growing regions the United States has to offer in Sonoma, California. The Russian River Valley is ideal for producing high quality Chardonnay. The cool fogy mornings allow for the fruit to retain its natural mouthwatering acidity even after it has gone through it's secondary malolactic fermentation and the hot dry afternoons allow for the slow ripening process preserving fruity aromatics. This wine is 100% Chardonnay and shows off an assortment of crisp, fruity aromas such as green apple, pear, orange zest, and grapefruit. It has been aged one year in French oak (35% New). This is a wonderful compliment to these flavors and weaves a warm vanilla caramel throughout. Our barrel regime heightens flavor development through a monthly lees stirring. This wine is balanced and has many layers that unfold with every visit to the glass.

Varietal Definition
Chardonnay:
Chardonnay is by far the most widely planted grape crop in California and dominates California’s cooler, coastal, quality wine regions. The natural varietal ‘taste and smell’ of Chardonnay is surprisingly unfamiliar to many wine drinkers, as its true character is often guised with dominating winemaking signatures. Chardonnay’s rather subdued primary fruit characteristics lean toward the crisp fruitiness of apples, pears and lemon, but the variety’s full body is capable of supporting a host of complementary characteristics, such as oak, butter and vanilla. Regardless of what is the appropriate style for Chardonnay, the varietal continues to dominate vineyard plantings in every corner of the world. Close attention to clonal selection has made this broad geographic and climactic range of Chardonnay viable in thoughtful viticultural hands.
