Description:
Texas has been producing wonderful wines from this varietal for quite some time. As the name suggest, ruby and violet in color. On the nose are cherry, blackberry and blueberry which continues through to the finish. Medium-bodied with an off dry level of sweetness, this grape was developed in 1949 at UC Davis in California and is a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan.

Ruby Cabernet:
Red-wine grape cross originating from Carignane and Cabernet Sauvignon parentage. Bred for use in the hot San Joaquin Valley region of California, it shows better promise in cooler coastal regions. Also found on small acreages in South Africa, Chile, Argentina and Australia. Currently used in jug-wines as "backbone".
