Camp 4 Blanc

Camp 4 Blanc Wine Details
Price: $28.00 per bottle

Description: This is Tensley Wines' third vintage of the Camp 4 Vineyard Blanc, the only wine Jennifer and Joey Tensley make as a team. As in past vintages, the two grape varieties come from continuous rows within the vineyard, but unlike years past, this vintage includes a slightly higher percentage of Roussanne (40% as opposed to 35%). The result is a bit more weight in the mouth and a touch more tropical fruit on the palate. The Grenache Blanc and Roussanne were pressed together as whole clusters into neutral oak barrels. All fermentation took place in barrel, and malolactic fermentation was stopped halfway through to retain acidity and freshness. Once again these varietals have proven that they are a match made in heaven. The Grenache Blanc shines with fresh minerals, pebbles, and crisp green apple while the Roussanne offers up a luscious mouthfeel brimming with guava, mango, nectarines and apricots. Drink this wine now or age it over the next three to five years.

Varietal Definition
Grenache:
Grenache Noir is the world’s most widely planted grape used to make red wine, sometimes made into a stand-alone varietal, frequently as a Rosé, but most often as a backbone of red blends. Its strength is its ability to grow in arid and windy conditions. It’s particularly suited to warm coastal regions of California, Spain and France. Grenache-based wines tend to be high in alcohol, with attractive fruit qualities in youth and a sweet berry character.Used as a component in some Northern Rhône reds, nearly exclusively for Rhône Rosés and as the primary component in nearly all Southern Rhône red blends, Grenache is probably most notable as the base varietal for Chateauneuf du Pape, Cotes du Rhône and Gigondas. In spite of its fame coming from French wines, Spain is most likely this grape’s origin.
Roussanne:
Also known as Bergeron in the french Savoie region. Semi-classic grape grown in the Hermitage-Rhone and southern Cotes du Rhone region of France. Still occasionally incorporated into white wine blends, (e.g: with the Marsanne grape wine), because of its acidity and aroma but finding less and less favor.
