Syrah

Syrah Wine Details
Price: $22.00 per bottle

Description: This limited (160 case) Syrah is beautiful and a joy to drink. It pours dark as night, flowing like glycerin. It smells tight, earthy and young now, offering up just a tease of cassis. But it erupts on the palate with its seductive and wonderfully sharp spiciness; the tart fruits tumble out in a pile of mixed berry and cherry that begins with a burst of freshly ground black pepper sprinkled over blackberries and rum-soaked plums, integrated with rich scents of grilled meat. The wine is seamless, smooth and long; the oak beautifully integrated. It’s also mouth filling, and has so many facets, it’s hard to keep track. The depth of flavor is stunning, while dusty tannins provide structure. This is a remarkable Syrah with obvious ageability. It makes it hard to describe the smooth mouthfeel, or the fancy aftertaste. For all the flamboyance, it’s a dry, controlled wine, assured of itself and in perfect balance. Extraordinarily rich now, but will unquestionably develop.

Varietal Definition
Syrah:
Syrah is the eight hundred pound gorilla of Rhone grapes! In the vineyard and the winery, Syrah is typically an easy grape to work with - healthy, early ripening, resistant to mildew and rot; suitable for winemaking in a variety of styles. The wines from Syrah are tannic without being harsh. The wines will have a taste and smell of dark blue fruit like blackberries and blackcurrant, with a strong spicy side where one can find freshly ground pepper and other spices. Syrah is famous for its part in the French blends, such as Côtes du Rhone and Châteauneuf du Pape.
