The Mission grapevine was the first European (vitis vinifera) variety brought to the New World. The Mission vine was planted in Senecu, New Mexico in 1629. It has been passed down and planted in New Mexico as a heirloom variety for over 370 years. Produced in a sweeter style it is a true "vino nativo" or native wine.

Mission:
Earliest grape planted in 17th century in what is now the state of California. Thought to have arrived in the America's by Spanish conquistadores importation. Known to be identical with the Pais grape widely grown in Chile and thought to originate from the Monica grape of Spain and Sardinia.
