Description:
The fruit was hand-harvested and went through a long fermentation at cooler temperatures in individual vineyard lots, some with an extended maceration period on the skins in the traditional French style. This resulted in a rich, silky mouthfeel and bright fruit characters. We selected a combination of new and old American oak barrels to age the wine for 10 months. The final blend resulted in a deep, richly colored wine with a harmony of fruit, acidity, and tannins. The wine displays aromas of dark red fruits and sweet new oak. On the palate it demonstrates a silky texture that is perfectly balanced by an ultra-rich mouthfeel, a distinctive roasted peppery aroma with black cherry flavors, firm tannins, and a lingering finish.

Varietal Definition
Syrah:
Syrah is the eight hundred pound gorilla of Rhone grapes! In the vineyard and the winery, Syrah is typically an easy grape to work with - healthy, early ripening, resistant to mildew and rot; suitable for winemaking in a variety of styles. The wines from Syrah are tannic without being harsh. The wines will have a taste and smell of dark blue fruit like blackberries and blackcurrant, with a strong spicy side where one can find freshly ground pepper and other spices. Syrah is famous for its part in the French blends, such as Côtes du Rhone and Châteauneuf du Pape.
