Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc Wine Details
Price: $14.00 per bottle

Description: In 2004, we reduced the percentage of our Sauvignon Blanc fermented in barrel. The result is an even brighter, fresher white wine with a distinctive Gainey Vineyard flavor profile. The aroma begins with subtle mineral, lemon and grassy notes, then expands to include melon rind, orange blossom and lemon cream scents. These are mirrored in the wine’s bright, clean, crisp flavors. As the wine airs, its creamy texture emerges, harmonizing with a cleansing acidity in the finish that impels you to take another sip, and another one after that. Drink this delicious, vibrant wine over the next year by itself or with your favorite casual meals.

Varietal Definition
Sauvignon Blanc:
Sauvignon Blanc is widely grown in California — at over 15,000 acres, it’s now the third most planted variety — and often assumes the moniker ‘Fume Blanc’. This popular synonym, credited to Napa’s Robert Mondavi, derives from the grape’s historic home of Pouilly in France’s Upper Loire Valley, where Sauvignon Blanc is the dominant varietal and goes locally by the name of ‘Blanc Fumé’. When treated with respect and afforded suitable growing conditions, Sauvignon Blanc is one of the wine world’s darlings. Steely, racy acidity, green, gooseberry fruit, asparagus and a grassy, herbaceous character characterize dry wines made from this grape.
