Armida Winery

Armida Winery As a young boy living in San Francisco, Bob Frugoli spent entire summers with his Italian grandparents in Healdsburg, where he relished his grandmother Armida’s opulent meals with older family and friends while sipping his grandfather’s homemade wine. These rich, loving memories nurtured Bob’s successful business career in San Francisco and Chicago, as he concurrently developed and farmed vineyards in the Russian River Valley. Planning to someday own and operate his own winery, he kept an eye out for the right winery property. In 1989 he purchased an existing but non-operating winery near Healdsburg, in the heart of Sonoma County. He spent one year renovating the buildings and equipment. In the fall of 1990, Armida Winery's first crush occurred. After a four year labor of love, Bob decided to enjoy some serious retirement time. In 1994, Bob sold majority interest in Armida Winery to brothers Steve and Bruce Cousins. He now enjoys the fruits of his labor as his new partners continue to develop Armida Winery to its fullest potential.

  "Reserve" PoiZin
As she stands in the clearing, the cold wind dances through the trees, swirling her golden mane over her diaphanous, silken black gown. The full moon melts into the paleness of her skin. As she stirs the cauldron of Zinfandel she chants an other worldly incantation. From vials as old as the echoes of time she adds minute pinches of her ancestry. Her slender fingers rub together as the grains fall, releasing their magic as they touch the fermenting must. On her face is the look of both good and evil, of love and hate, of life and sex and all that stirs you. What is this unearthly potion? It is Poizin, the wine to die for.
  "The Antidote" Pinot Gris
  Bacigalupi Pinot Noir
The Bacigalupi Vineyard is classic Burgundian in its terroir. This Pinot mixes earthy leathery aromas with dried cherry and strawberry flavors. Elegant tannins and acid balance out with a smooth delicate mouth-feel. The dusty tannins mingle with hints of vanilla and spice to finish off this well-balanced wine.
  Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley
This is a blend of 85% Stuhlmuller Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Scharf Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. You'll love this full-bodied, easy drinking wine that offers everything one could want in a Cab. Aromas of black cherry, eucalyptus and cedar tease your senses. On the palate there's more cherry and plum, with hints of milk chocolate and sweet pipe tobacco. Firm, intense tannins hold it all together, and then bring it on home with a long, well rounded oak finish. Who can resist cherries & chocolate?
  Castelli Pinot Noir
  Chardonnay Russian River Valley
This Chardonnay was made non-malactic to retain its bright citrus, lemon oil and tropical flavors. A style of wine, that makes it incredibly easy to pair with a number of different dishes, especially with seafood. Aromas of honeysuckle, lemon oil and white peach mingle with elegant oak. The bright acidity of the fruit dances across your palate, and the finish is crisp and pleasant. This wine is true to the flavor of a Chardonnay grape; drinking a glass of this wine is like eating a bunch of ripe Chardonnay grapes right off the vine. Delicious and refreshing!
  Flora Ranch, Zinfandel
Flora Ranch is a beautiful vineyard off Chalk Hill road hidden within the rolling hills. It is a late ripening site due to the mild days and cool evenings. This slower more even ripening allows us to maximize flavor concentration. 2004 is our first vintage of Zinfandel from the Flora Ranch. It is truly elegant in style with aromas of currant, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The mouth is full and rich with black cherries, toasty oak, and a hint of ripe peach in the background, the finish in long and lingering. This wine would pair well with a steak or pasta, or a fire on a cold winter evening.
  Gewurztraminer
  Keefer Ranch Chardonnay
  Late Harvest Zinfandel
Get ready for this one… our first Late Harvest Zinfandel, and we think we've set the bar pretty high. This wine explodes with fruit in the nose from blackberry, to a bright zinberry, to some beautiful floral notes. The mouth is rich and elegant with flavors of vanilla and sweet oak. The finish is obscenely long and luscious with lingering flavors of vanilla and blackberry.
  Maple Vineyard, Zinfandel
  Sauvignon Blanc
  Scharf Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
This is the dark side of Cabernet. Filled with black cherry, dark chocolate and rich coffee. The perfect winter wine, it is not for the faint of heart. The tannins are strong yet refined; the flavors are of ripe blackberry, with an herbaceous edge of Italian spices. There's a little bit of black pepper spice in the long elegant finish.
  Sharkonnay, "The Great White"
This is a blend of our best Chardonnay's The nose is full of butterscotch, vanilla, lemon oil and even hints of lilacs. The mouth is rich and silky and smells of ripe pears. The finish lingers with bright acidity and a bit of oak. Blended to create the most rich complex, fruit forward wine. It was aged "sur lees" to give the wine rich texture and butterscotch/hazelnut notes.
  Stuhlmuller Chardonnay
  Surf Zin
This is a fun wine, not only for the package but also for the exciting wine inside. The nose is bursting with bright zinberry, cran-raspberry and blueberry. The allspice, pepper and clove notes round out the wine beautifully. All of these flavors integrate with caramel and vanilla tones from the oak, and carry the long and luscious finish.
  Tre Torrente, Zinfandel
