Arns Winery

Arns Winery ARNS WINERY is located on the hillside east of the historic city of St. Helena, CA, in the heart of the Napa Valley. The 160 acre parcel sits at an elevation of 800 feet above the valley floor and below the Howell Mountain Appellation. The soil for the nine acre all-Cabernet vineyard is Red Aiken Loam, which was planted in the mid-to-late 1960's. This parcel has a history of grape growing going back into the 1800's. Our wines represent selections from nine different blocks, with clones from Bordeaux and Napa Valley (and one of unsure origins). These vineyard blocks consist of up to 2,900 vines per acre with a vertical shoot positioned trellis. At the present, there is some planting and replanting going on, and in the future our goal of 2,000 cases should be realized.

  Arns Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon
We have received excellent reviews on this wine. Our goals are to bring in high quality mountain fruit and preserving the quality in the winery in micro-lot fermentations. Our wines are aged exclusively in new French Oak Barrels for 24 months and then, at least, one year in the bottle. Quality from the vineyard to your dinner table is important, and we hope you appreciate our effort -- we appreciate yours!
  Arns Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon
Opaque in the glass, with vivid purple hues at the edge. It proves extremely concentrated and complex to the nose, which displays optimum ripeness and great focus while offering shifting aromatic impressions of black cherry, Italian cherry, black currant, violet, licorice, earth and vanilla: The whole unfolding more rapidly is typical for this bottling. Intense and full of "grip" on the palate, it delivers the chiseled clarity the nose promised, along with the ripeness. The mouthfeel is plush and polished, yet almost meaty; Firmed rather than blunted by tannins that never rise above the waves of cherry, currant, vanilla and baking spice that linger through the finish. Impressive and flavorful now and clearly one of the stars of its great vintage, it seems certain to improve for another eight to twelve years, and it may live thirty.
