Wollersheim Winery

Wollersheim Winery There are 23 acres of planted vineyards on the Wollersheim estate at Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. Most of the acreage is devoted to winter hardy French-American hybrids and some experimental vitis viniferas. Our main grape is called Marechal Foch. It is a very reliable and versatile variety. Vineyards do the best on slopes because of increased water drainage, air flow and sun exposure....and we make different wines from grapes grown in different places! Grapes from flatter land will give us young, light to medium-bodied wines, while grapes grown on steep slopes give us full-bodied rich wines. We make 5 different wines from our vineyards: Prairie Blush and Prairie Red from the young, flat vineyards, Ruby Nouveau and Domaine du Sac from the medium aged and medium slope vineyards, and Domaine Reserve from the oldest and steepest vineyard. These wines carry the appellation "Lake Wisconsin Viticultural Area".
