On June 3, 1781, in the heart of the Revolutionary War, Jack Jouette made his legendary horseback ride to Monticello to warn Governor Thomas Jefferson and his legislators of an attempt at their capture by an advancing British Calvary.
Led only by moonlight, Jack rode 40 miles along a backwoods trail marked by three distinct axe notches in the trees, a path later known as Three Notch'd Road.
We here at Three Notch'd Brewing Co. will never be as legendary as some of the most revered characters in Virginia history, but we do aim to leave our humble mark in the world of craft beer.
