Island Winery

Island Winery Island Winery was started by Loren and Georgene Mortimer. Dr. Georgene Mortimer is a professional winemaker and has been making award - winning wines for years. She serves as a technical consultant for several wineries and also co-owns Westfall Winery in Montague, New Jersey with her husband Loren. Loren & Georgene fell in love with Hilton Head Island and have been coming here for years. They finally settled here and brought their passion for fine wines along with them. To insure the success of their new venture, they collaborate with wine maker, Lou Sodano who owns and operates the very successful Wine Experience in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.

From Rte 95: Take Exit 8 follow 278 onto Hilton Head Island. Between Mile Marker 4 & 5, Make a Left onto Mathews Drive. Make a Right onto Cardinal Rd. Look for building with Blue Awning on the right. 12A Cardinal Rd. From anywhere on Hilton Head Island: Take Route 278 to Between Mile Marker 4 & 5. Turn on Mathews Drive Towards the airport (Corner of Northridge Plaza). Make a Right onto Cardinal Rd. Look for building with Blue Awning on the right 12A Cardinal Rd.

  Barbera
We blended Barbera grapes from the Sierra Foothills with old vines zinfandel grapes to give this wine its full bodied structure.
  Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah
We used select grapes from the Central Valley in Chile to produce this smoky, fruity wine.
  Carmenere
Inky dark with nice fruit and supple tannins, these Chilean grapes have been mistaken for Merlot for decades.
  Chardonnay
We brought grapes in from the wine regions of Chile to create this crisp fruity Chardonnay with a hint of American Oak.
  Dolcetto
This ruby colored Italian every day drinking wine is light-bodied and approachable.
  Grenache/Syrah
The Grenache adds the fresh fruity character and the Syrah adds the color & spice to this Rhone style blend.
  Muscat
We blended Italian Muscato grapes with grapes from our New Jersey vineyards to produce this sweet, fruity & fun wine.
  Old Vines Zinfandel
Full bodied and loaded with jammy fruit. These grapes come from old zinfandel vines from Lodi California.
  Peach Chardonnay
We made wine out of juicy ripe South Carolina peaches then blended with chardonnay to create this crisp refreshing semi -sweet wine.
  Petite Sirah
Made from Premium California grapes, this nicely acidic, dark colored wine pairs well with many foods.
  Praline Honey Wine
We started with Georgia Tupelo Honey and added Praline flavors to create this dessert in a bottle! (Silver Medal Winner, 2006 HHI International Competition)
  Riesling
Our Riesling, made from California Johannasburg Riesling grapes, it is light, refreshing & slightly sweet.
  Sangiovese
This is the grape used to make the Italian classic, Chianti, ours is made from premium Napa Valley grapes and aged in American Oak for 10 Months. Ripe cherry aromas and perfectly balanced oak are the signature of this fine wine. (Silver Medal Winner, 2006 HHI International Competition)
  Southern Passion
We made wine out of fresh Carolina peaches, berries and Florida Oranges and then blended it with red wine to create our version of Sangria... Southern Style
  Strawberry Tupelo Honey Wine
Red Ripe South Carolina Strawberries were blended with Gulf Coast Tupelo Honey to create this highly fragrant delicious dessert wine.
