Old House Vineyards, Distillery and Brewery

Old House Vineyards, Distillery and Brewery It was a rainy Mothers Day in 1998 when we discovered the 75 acres and abandoned farm house at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. With the help of family, friends and a local grape grower, we began working to transform the property into Old House Vineyards. Four years later, the formerly overgrown alfalfa fields are now lush vineyards, producing grapes for our first production and bottling of five wines. The 1800s farmhouse has been restored to an inviting gathering place for the enjoyment of good food and wine. The property is open for tours and tastings, and is available for weddings and other private events. Tasting Hours: Saturday, 11am - 5pm; Sunday, 1pm - 5pm.

  an Samhradh
Bright and fresh, with just a hint of sweetness, this fruity-styled red is a great wine for those with a lighter palate. Try it with spicy food or pizza.
  Arctica
These Vidal grapes are harvested based on concentrations of flavor, deep-frozen post-harvest and put into the press as frozen clusters of fruit. As the grapes are pressed, the liquid sugar drains out while the frozen water remains inside the press. This process creates a thick, syrup-like grape juice that will slowly ferment to create a rich dessert wine.
  Bacchanalia
This unique blend of barrel-aged Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, and Tennat brings us to a full bodied, well structured wine.
  Cabernet Franc
The cabernet franc grape has found an ideal home in the climate and soil of Virginia. The loose clusters ripen clean and smooth to bring spicy notes to the nose and fruity character to the palate.
  Clover Hill
The dry, crisp, flinty finish may have one thinking of Pinot Grigio. Try this wine with oysters on the half shell or other shellfish.
  Merlot
Plum and wild cherry aromas blend with the oak flavors to add life to this rich, red wine. Bold fruit flavors in the mouth with a soft, lingering finish, this wine shows true Merlot style. Try with grilled beef or roasted pork.
  Old House Chardonnay
Tropical fruit overtones are complemented by the oak and butter components of this wine. Barrel fermenting and aging with the lees help to give this wine its texture. Great with grilled salmon or a creamy pasta dish.
  Vidal Blanc
An off-dry white wine with flavors of pineapple, apricot and peach. You can almost feel the texture of ripe peaches in the finish of this wine. Great for a summer picnic with fruit and cheeses or as an aperitif.
  Wicked Bottom
Our Chambourcin Reserve is barrel aged to integrate the fruity character with oak structure creating a complex yet approachable red wine.
