Bogle Vineyards

Bogle Vineyards Although the Bogle family has been farming since the mid-1800's, it was not until 1968 that the father and son team of Warren and Chris Bogle planted their first 20 acres of wine grapes in Clarksburg, California. In this small farming community nestled along the Sacramento River, the Bogle family's years of hard work have developed into an impressive grape growing operation, as well as a nationally acclaimed winery. Today Bogle Vineyards farms over 1,200 acres of wine grapes in the Delta region. While the winery was established ten years after the first grapes were planted, its success has grown tremendously along with the vineyards. The success of Bogle over the years is firmly rooted in one thing: the day-to-day involvement of the Bogle family in the hands-on effort to produce and promote quality wines. Patty Bogle became involved in the early years of the vineyards with her late husband Chris, when they planted fields together in the early 1970's. Patty took over operation of the winery in 1989 and has directedproduction to new and exciting heights. Patty's daughter Jody also contributes to the family business by being active in sales and marketing, as well as greeting people in the Bogle tasting room. Patty's son Warren, named after the founder of Bogle Vineyards, is the sixth generation of the Bogle family to farm this fertile Delta region. Like his grandfather and father, Warren understands that in order to produce quality wines, you must first produce quality grapes. This tradition of respect for the land and the vines is crucial to the success of Bogle wines. The production of Bogle wine is influenced by this family tradition as well as the ever-changing trends in the wine industry. Since 1992, Bogle Winery has participated in the California Appellation Program. In this program, winemakers source fruit from some of the best vineyards in the state and blend them with Bogle's Estate Vineyards in Clarksburg, thus assuring that the wines benefit from many of the incredible grape growing regions of California. Each and every Bogle wine created is a unique and exciting blend with true varietal character and an approachable style. With their deep commitment to quality, the Bogle family wouldn't have it any other way.

  Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is a grape that takes its own sweet time, slowly lingering to ripen on the vine. We are rewarded by its reluctance. Ripe, bright cherries open up on the palate, with a hint of dried herbs and eucalyptus nestled among the fruit. Fourteen months in American barrels produced a well-integrated profile of spicy oak and rich tobacco. Firm but forgiving tannins leave a most welcome finish after each sip.
  Chardonnay
Bogle’s 2004 Chardonnay has a little something for everyone: barrel fermentation, sur-lies aging, and partial malolactic fermentation. These hand-crafted processes create a rich and elegant wine with layers of complexity. Fresh tropical fruits like pineapple and mango greet both the nose and palate upon first sip, followed up by a touch of lemon cream. Complimented by more creamy notes of butterscotch and caramel, the wine has a long, lingering finish hinting of toasty oak. Enjoy this wine with just about everything you can pair it with through 2006.
  Chenin Blanc
Another classic Clarksburg Chenin Blanc vintage is here to enjoy! Fragrant with notes of flowering honeysuckle and orange blossoms, this aromatic sipper will give you spring fever! Round mouthfuls of honeydew and cantaloupe melons give this wine some weight, though it remains crisp and refreshing. The fruit basket in your glass includes green apples and pineapples as well as a touch of apricot to lace the finish with softness. Good, bright acid will allow the wine to pair well with cheeses, spicy Asian foods or other light fare

  Merlot
2003 evolved into a long, slow growing season that relished in our cooler than average summer temperatures! Developed and intense fruit from this harvest has produced one of our most full-bodied merlots yet! Deep cherry fruit hits both the nose and palate upon the first sip, followed by soft hits of summer anise. Touches of pipe tobacco and spicy oak lend weight to the finish, trailed by firm, assertive tannins. Enjoy this wine with a wide range of food: from pasta to hearty meat dishes, or of course, all by itself!

  Petite Sirah
First produced in 1978 by the Bogle family, this 2003 Petite Sirah is considered Bogle's "heritage" varietal. On the nose, luscious boysenberry teases you along with touches of black pepper and herbs. Trademark inky and jammy tones fill the mouth with ripe fruit and berries. The voluptuous finish lingers with toasty oak and lush fruit. The firm tannins make this a wine that can develop for years to come, but you won’t want to wait that long to enjoy it! Try this unique wine with rich meat dishes of lamb, pork or game and their hearty sauces.

  Petite Sirah Port
This year's vintage displays the complex aromas of raspberry and plum with undercurrents of blackberry jam hiding beneath. Mid-palate the toasty oak subtly asserts itself for just a moment before ebbing away into the fruit characters. The finish is smooth with touches of leather, chocolate and a pinch of pipe tobacco.
  Petite Sirah Port
This vintage of our Petite Sirah Port was sourced from a ranch just south of the Bogle homestead known as the “Quick Ranch.” Planted in 1995, this ranch is home to 30 acres of petite sirah vines. Selected rows of these vines were not harvested with the rest, allowing the grapes to ripen to 26.5 degrees brix before being selectively handpicked for the Petite Sirah Port on September 24, 2003. At 15 degrees brix, fortification occurred and fermentation was halted. The result was our Petite Sirah Port with an alcohol of 20% and a residual sugar of 9.4%. The newly made port was aged in neutral French and American oak barrels for 18 months.   Phantom
It’s back….the blend of black magic from Bogle winemakers. Three unique varietals combine lush berry and fierce spice into a full-bodied wine. Concentrated and intense, this deep ruby apparition begins with ripe cranberry and cherry notes on the nose and palate. From the deep dark depths, notes of spicy cinnamon and sweet vanilla emerge, only to ebb away stubbornly, with hints of pipe tobacco. Though this wine is remarkable now, age in the bottle will only integrate the three distinct varietals more. Welcome the winery ghost into your home again with this third vintage, and enjoy with full-flavored and hearty meals…before it vanishes again.

  Pinot Noir
The cool coastal breezes of the Russian River appellation produce some of the most widely-acclaimed Pinot Noir grapes. Bogle winemakers workd with long-time growers in this region to create this year's vintage. A wine of structure and finesse, floral aromas of crushed rose petals and violets are welcoming and inviting. Dense fruit flavors of black cherry integrate with moderately toasty oak overtones. The lingering impression on the palate is one of firmly weighted fruit with a soft, silky finish, echoing wiht touches of pipe tobacco and earthy leather. This wine is elegance with accessibility.
  Sauvignon Blanc
Always classic in style, Bogle's Sauvignon Blanc was cold fermented in 100% stainless steel tanks to maintain its varietal character: crisp and vibrant with notes of citrus. A blend of fresh cut spring grass and lime assaults the nose, while a depth of mouthfeel at the entry and mid-palate balances this crisp acidity. Lemon and pineapple fruit compliments the clean, refreshing finish. This is the perfect sipper for a spring or summer day, or to pair with appetizers or fish, shellfish and light, spicy foods.
