The Kooper Family Whiskey Company, was founded in 2012 by Troy and Michelle Kooper, of East Austin, Texas. The two have worked tirelessly for many years milling, mashing, fermenting, distilling, and learning the secret science of turning rye grain into the finest spirit America has ever known.
They traveled all over America visiting distilleries, talking to distillers and learning everything they could about making Rye Whiskey. They’ve consulted and trained with some of the best minds in American craft distilling.
They’ve taken all of that learning and training, and mixed it with painstaking work and a lot of fight to found the Kooper Family Whiskey Company. Troy and Michelle both come from proud boxing families. Troy’s grandfather, Howard W. Pardekooper, was the U.S. Armed Forces Light Heavyweight Champion in 1944. Michelle’s cousin, Carlos Palomino, was the WBC Welterweight Champion of the World from 1976-1979.
