It was the late 1800's when fur traders, goldminers and cattlemen traveled through the Okanagan and to Summerland's original townsite, nestled on the shores of the Okanagan Lake. It was also the era of the construction of the national Canadian Pacific Railway through British Columbia. Our story starts with one of the 15,000 Chinese workers who fled the terrible working conditions of the railway construction and eventually found himself on the shores of Summerland - paradise found!
His first business endeavour was a Chinese Laundry that thrived as the sternwheeler boats docked nearby, delivering people and supplies to the growing community. It didn't take long however for this entrepreneur to see there were other needs in town not being met. Hence his business expanded to include a gambling den and brothel on the second floor!! Needless to say Summerland's early settlers and visitors had some of the cleanest garments in the Valley….not to mention the widest grins. Perhaps it is best that we keep this little known part of Summerland history, hush hush.
Dirty Laundry Vineyard is a small family owned winery in Summerland, located high above the original townsite, on a plateau that enjoys an ideal microclimate and excellent sun exposure for growing exceptional grapes. Thanks to the vision of the vineyard's founders, Dirty Laundry Vineyard has some of the oldest vinifera vines in the Okanagan Valley. The winery features a most welcoming and beguiling vine covered patio that overlooks orchards, vineyards, Okanagan Lake as well as the historical Trestle Bridge at Trout Creek Canyon. Visitors often have a chance to see the formidable Kettle Valley Steam Train pass by alongside the vineyard during the tourist season.

From Penticton: (Distance - 14.8 km; Traveling time - 20 minutes). 1 - Depart from Penticton heading north on Hwy 97N (distance is measured from intersection of Eckhardt and Westminister Ave. just before the bridge). - 10.7 km. 2 - Turn LEFT off Hwy 97N onto Arkell Rd. (watch for red, wine route highway signs) - 0.3 km. 3 - Turn RIGHT onto Gartrell Rd. - 1.2 km. 4 - Turn LEFT onto Happy Valley Rd. - 0.7 km. 5 - Road name changes to Hilborn - 1.0 km. 6 - Turn LEFT onto Lewes Ave. - 0.3 km. 7 - Road name changes to Fiske Street - 0.3 km. 8 - You have arrived!! 0 km. From Kelowna: (Distance - 53.4 km; Traveling time - 50 minutes. 1 - Depart Kelowna on Hwy 97S (distance is measured from the intersection of Hwy 97 and Abbott Street which is the last intersection before crossing the bridge). Drive past Summerland on the highway, you'll go down a big hill, then there will be a straightaway stretch, at the end of that straightaway. - 49.6 km.
2 - Turn RIGHT off Hwy 97N onto Arkell Rd. 2002 Susan's Sensation

Blush
A complicated, evasive woman. This blend will keep you guessing. She's mostly gewürztraminer, with a touch of something red. She has fabulous fruit basket aromatics. Pleasant honey, sweet strawberry raspberry flavours upfront, with a drier lingering cinnamon finish.

Chardonnay
Don't be fooled by her French name, there is nothing old world about this femme fatale. Her luscious, uninhibited fruit forward style is all nouveau monde.

This arresting Alsatian temptress of a wine owes her exotic spiciness to the cool high plateau block of vines that mature slowly, creating a naturally well balanced wine.
