Bon Niche. What does it mean?
Loosely translated it's a good niche. At Bon Niche Cellars we like to think of it as both a very good place, and a good niche in life. Making award winning wine in a beautiful vineyard. What could be better?
The winery and vineyard are located on a beautiful slope with a spectacular view of the distant hills. The rich soil, hot days and brisk nights are perfect for the French varietals that grow so well in the Paso Robles terroir. The vineyard is planted with Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Combined with fruit from nearby vineyards the artisan blends are primarily Bordeaux style, a few Rhone style are also offered.
Bon Niche Cellars produces single varietals of outrageously good Malbec, and Petit Verdot along with traditional Bordeaux style blends under the brand name Bon Niche™. It's cousin label Birdland Cellars bottles other delights including Zinfandel, Syrah and a Cab Blend.
The remote location, just on the fringe of civilization provides the adventuresome wine drinker with a delightful experience. The 15 minute drive from town is well worth the trip. The winery is open during event weekends, for wine club parties as well as for personalized tastings by appointment.

Directions
From Hwy 101 take Exit 231 for CA 46 East and continue approximately 2.3 miles, turn left on Airport Drive and continue 3.1 miles. Turn right on Tower for 2 miles. (If you pass J.Lohr you've gone a bit too far on Airport.) Left on Jardine for 0.9 mile. Continue over the bridge on Estrella 0.1 mile. Turn right on Hog Canyon for 1.3 miles. Turn right into Independence Ranch (watch for mailboxes, no street sign) and continue for 0.5 mile. Left on Hawk Ridge for another 1.0 mile. You will travel a short distance on gravel road and arrive at the corner of Hawk Ridge and Golden Eagle. Turn right, we are on the corner on the right.
