GenKota Winery Genkota Winery's selection of award-winning wines includes dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet to sweet covering the spectrum of reds, blushes and whites. In addition, GenKota offers an expanding inventory of gourmet speciality foods and gift items, personalized labels for all special occasions, and custom gift baskets. The covered deck and fountain are popular areas for special events. Hours: Mon - Sat: 10-7; Sun: 12-6.

Directions
From I-57/64, take Exit 95. Turn left on IL Rt. 15 (Broadway St.). Go over interstate to Frontage Road (N. 44th St.) behind Steak'nShake and Denny's. Winery is 200 yards past Steak'nShake.

  Cabernet Sauvignon
A carpenter's wine: Oak intricately inlaid with berry aromas. Subtle woodsy palate at the front, tangy berry, middle, finishing in a burst of robust tannins. Young, yet mellow. Built for aging, will cellar well into 2000. Try with same foods as Chambourcin.
  Canoe Chianti
Semi-sweet 2/3 Chambourcin 1/3 Norton. Semi-sweet dark red. Nose of blackberries, smoke with a hint of mushroom. It has a soft, full mouth feel with blackberry, cherry, and tart apples. Clean, slightly drying finish. Should go well with quail, cornish hens with berry sauce made with Canoe and steak. Great with pasta!
  Casey Creek
Vidal Blanc, Seyval, and Chambourcin. ***Gold Medal Illinois State Fair 1998. Delicate, fruity nose with hints of spice and honey. Smooth, clean, slightly spicy mouth feel of citrus, honey and a hint of summer cherries. Crisp, clean finish. Try with brie, chevre and crackers, fruit places or strawberry shortcake.
  Catawba
Sweet 100% Catawba grapes. Fruity overtones, tastes of peach and cherry with a lot of residual sweetness. A good wine for afternoon or evening. Bouquet is reminiscent of flowers and persimmons. Goes well with chicken and white fish.
  Chambourcin
Dry 100% Chambourcin ***SILVER MEDAL ILLINOIS STATE FAIR 1998, 1999 Exciting aromas of black cherry, pepper, woodsy earth. Dense, concentrated berry, pepper and tobacco on the palate, with generous tannins that linger, finishing with an earthy fruit.Red meat, lamb chops, or venison, grilled meats, sharp cheeses.
  Chardonel
Semi-dry from Drake Vineyards. ***Silver Medal Illinois State Fair 1999. ***Bronze Medal Indy Intrnl Wine. The nose is floral with hints of lemon and melons. Palate: lemons, honey and a hint of pineapple. Soft and slightly sweet finish. Good with grilled chicken breasts with pineapple, mango sauce or salsa.
  Chardonnay
Dry 100% Chardannay Grapes, lightly oaked. Lush, complex aroma with a hint of elusive fruit. Sings on the pallete like ripe tart goose berries. Subtle oak balanced acidity. Short clean finish. The most exceptional food wine.
  Drake Port
Fortified Chambourcin 500ml. ***Silver Medals 1999 IL State Fair *** Indy Int'nl Wine Competition. Nose of dark berries, cedar and fresh mushrooms. Lush black cherry balanced by a good amount of acidity. A nice, medium bodied wine which would be excellent with coffee and chocolate in any from up to and including "death by".
  Norton
This dark ruby wine has a slight aroma of cinnamon and herbs with a nutty, berry overlay. Zesty berry flavors on the palate with a smooth lingering finish. Pair with hearty beef dishes, spicy pasta sauces, and sharp cheeses. Young, but will age nicely in the bottle.
  Sunset Rose'
Semi-sweet 50% Chambourin 50% Seyval. Aroma of cherries, delicate and fruity. Palate is very cherry with slight smokey character. Good lingering finish. Should go nicely with ham smoked turkey and grilled pork.
  Three Dog White
Semi-sweet Vidal, Seyval, Vignoles.Fruity, clean aroma, slightly spicy bouquet. Spicy citrus flavors of lemon and grapefruit. A nice complement to light cake or biscotti, apples or pears.
  Thunder Chicken
Sweet pink apple wine with jonathan apples. Smells like apples, taste like apples, must be apples but no its sweet apple wine! Soft yet crisp setting on the sun like a hot summer day. Chill, make wine coolers, heat with mulling spices, whatever!
  Vidal Blanc
Dry from Drake Vineyards. ***Silver Medal 1999 Indy Intrnl Wine ***Silver Medal Florida State Intrnl 2000. Aromas of peaches, pears and a hint of vanilla. Crisp lemon and apple flavors with some vanilla in the finish. Should go nicely with salds, grilled white fish or as an appetizer with fruit and crackers and mild cheeses.
