Nottely Vineyards

Nottely Vineyards NOTTELY RIVER VALLEY VINEYARDS, LLC. is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery established in 2008. The vineyard and winery occupies 10 acers of a 93 acre farm that has been in the family since 1820. The vineyard consist of high density plantings of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and a small block of the French Hybrids (Chardonel, and Seyval Blanc). Viticulture practices include high density plantings, leaf pruning, cluster thinning, and limited fruit production. These practices provide the winery with high quality fruit for wine production. The winery consist of a below ground gravity flow design, and includes geo-thermal cooling of the cellar. Nottely River Valley Vineyards strives for minimal intervention throughout the wine making process. We strive to fashion our wines after the “Old World Style, Hand-Crafted” wines of Europe. The first harvest was in the fall of 2011, with the first release scheduled for the fall of 2012.

  Chardonel
Chardonel, a French Hybrid with fruit forward aroma and taste. It has multiple layers of citrus and stone fruit flavors. It has good acid balance (to the high end) that will last to the end of the taste. We elected to retain some residual sugar to give this wine an excellent overall balance. This wine has a body and flavor all wine drinkers can appreciate. Excellent alone or, paired with cheese, seafood, chicken, or pork. Best when served at slightly below room temperature (60), not too cold.
  Chardonnay
Chardonnay, this is a very brisk, bright, steely, naked, fruit forward wine. It hasn’t gone through malactic acid fermentation so you won’t find the buttery smell or taste. It is a very dry wine with good full body taste. It is crafted in the true “Burgodian” style. Serve slightly chilled (58-60)
  Dry Riesling
Dry (gold top, yellow dot) German TROCKEN style in limited quantity.
  R.W.’s Blush
This is named after my father Ralph William Thompson (He liked the color pale red, and would load down his hot tea with lots of sugar). This Blush had minimum skin contact, and was cold fermented. Contains a complex mixture of citrus and grape flavors. It is high in acid content with just the right level of residual sugar for balance. Will pare well with just about any type of spicy to creamy food. It is very good just by itself. Best when served chilled (50-55)
  Riesling
And an off dry (Kabinett style) medium sweet style (green top). They are both well balanced full of fruit aroma and flavors. Serve cool at 55-58
