Amici Cellars

Amici Cellars AAmici Cellars is a Napa Valley winery creating premium quality wine, and we welcome guests to our tasting room in Calistoga by appointment. At Amici we focus on quality, not quantity. Because we insist on keeping our production small, we can carefully control the process of creating each wine, crafting what we like to consider a small work of art in each bottle.

  Cabernet Sauvignon
The addition of a small amount of Merlot and Petite Verdot to the 2002 Amici Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon adds richness to the mouth feel and increases the aromatics of the wine. The color is opaque and the wine has very soft tannins, which allow the currant-blackberry flavors to take center stage on the palate. The conservative use of new French oak adds just the right amount of vanilla and spices, helping to enhance the aromatics of the wine. In their youth, all great Cabernet Sauvignons show their fruit first. Then, as bottle aging takes place, the wine more fully reveals its terroir.
  Chardonnay
Loaded with Arkansas Black apple and white peach fruit characteristics, this wine offers just a hint of toasty oak on the nose. You will be treated to a lush, fleshy, spicy set of flavors in the mouth, balanced by a clean, crisp mouthwatering acidity from mid-palate and throughout its long finish. A great food wine.
Old Vine Zinfandel - Panek Vineyard
The 2003 vintage marks our second release of Zinfandel from Panek Vineyard. These dry-farmed vines produce less than two tons of fruit per acre, which is why the finished wine is so thick and rich. The aromatics are black cherry, vanilla and exotic spices. The flavors of dried blackberries, Logan berries and figs fill the palette. The mouth feel is full and viscous. The color is a very dark ruby-garnet, and the well-integrated American oak doesn’t steal any thunder from the fruit. This Zin can handle any meats or wild game that the BBQ has to offer! Awesome, buy some!
  Pinot Noir-Mendocino
The 2003 vintage marks the second release of Amici Pinot Noir. The fruit was sourced from a hidden jewel of a vineyard, located in the coastal mountain range high above the town of Mendocino. The wine is a blend of 65% Pommard clone; 30% Dijon #115 clone; and, 5% Dijon #777 clone. The #777 clone came from a small vineyard in Philo – a small inland town in the Mendocino (Anderson Valley) appellation. The #777 clone added color and body to the finished wine which features cranberry, loganberry, spice and forest floor aromatics. The flavors are very concentrated and complex, with a faint hint of pepper. The 2003 Amici Pinot Noir drinks beautifully now, but will age for 7-10 years.
