Dakotah Vineyards & Winery

Dakotah is a family business operated by Rob Rittgers and his father Max Rittgers.
Max established the vineyard in 1985 with a planting of 200 muscadine grape vines. The first grapes produced were sold onsite from a board across two five-gallon buckets
Today Dakotah Winery is a 12-acre site with over 6,000 grape vines. A large, comfortable wine-tasting room welcomes visitors. A temperature-controlled wine cellar is the most recent addition.
A visit to Dakotah provides not only an opportunity to buy Florida wine but an opportunity for self-guided innovational wellness walks through the grounds while viewing the grapes, sheep, geese, wood ducks, koi fish, and other species.

Driving Directions:
From Gainesville -- West on Newberry Road (SR 26) to Fanning Springs then left (south) on U.S. 19 for three miles.
From Ocala -- Alternate 27 to Chiefland, 5 miles north on U.S. 19.
From Orlando -- North on Florida's Turnpike to I-75 North. Exit I-75 in Ocala on Alternate 27 North to Chiefland. Five miles north on U.S. 19.

Blueberry
from Florida blueberries, it's a good dessert wine and is delicisous as a topping for ice cream or cheese cake.

Another slightly sweet wine that combines the Carlos and Noble grape. Great with sandwiches and salads.

Cabernet Sauvignon
this favorite dry red wine is the newest addition to Dakotah's selections.

Carlos
a slightly sweet white wine with an incredible grapey taste. Loved by Southern people who enjoy it with grouper or chicken. Made from Muscadine grapes.

Chardonnay
a dry white wine with a bright, clean taste. Cellared and bottled at Dakotah

Cream sherry
an amber full-flavored dessert wine with a slight almond taste that is almost buttery.

Merlot
a dry red wine cellared and bottled at Dakotah

Muscadine juice
This non-alcoholic drink is bottled fresh from the vine with no sugar added. It's refreshing taste reminds one of the actual grape it comes from.

Noble
a Muscadine grape semi-sweet red wine. Goes well with Italian or Spanish cuisine.
|
Port
a smooth, hearty red dessert wine. Has a higher alcoholic content and is sweet but very gentle.
