Cabernet Franc is most commonly known as a blending grape for wines in Bordeaux but we thought fruit this good doesn't need any additions! Our first release, this multi-dimensional wine stands on its own. An elegant and balanced red, this wine is smooth, bright and supple with complex aromas of red plum and currants and touches of vanilla and spice. The unique flavors of the varietal shine through on the palate; a mouthful of rhubarb, red currant and cherry flavors with subtle hints of rose petals and pencil lead. Tannins are silky, barely gripping the palate while a vibrant acid keeps the wine refreshing and bright and extends the considerable finish. This is a great food wine, try it with sausages or chicken from the grill, pizza and pastas.

The 2001 vintage of Beaucanon Cabernet Sauvignon is a richly concentrated wine with complexity and outstanding flavor. It has an engagingly deep, crimson color and captures the essence of cabernet with black cherry, rosemary, clove and green olive aromas. It has a enchanting flavor of sweet black cherry, complemented with layers of tobacco, cedar and spice. The finish is long and enjoyable, dominated by the ever-present cherry taste. This wine is lush and concentrated from beginning to end. Our recently planted vineyards with clone 4 and 337 greatly contributed to this outstanding cabernet sauvignon. As in recent years, we have improved the quality by providing long aging in French Oak barrels as well as blending the wine with cabernet franc. This gives the wine complexity, structure and finesse. The 2001 vintage was of tremendous quality and consequently, our Beaucanon Cabernet Sauvignon merits your attention as an outstanding Napa Valley Cabernet.

This outstanding Chardonnay, from the justly famous Ehlers Lane Vineyard, is the perfect summer sipping wine! It is graced with aromas of honey, green apple and lemon zest. The wine on the palate echoes the bouquet with a zippy and refreshingly high acidity and excellent balance. It shows rich flavor and complexity with tones of vanilla, grapefruit and honeydew melon. Typical of Beaucanon Chardonnay, the wine’s rich layers are graced with subdued touches of oak and toast. Our Chardonnay is made to have a moderate weight (or mouth feel) while maintaining high flavor concentration. We strive to stand apart from the crowd of cloying or heavy chardonnay products. We accomplish this through our barrel aging program of French and American oak and by allowing the wines to age on the lees. These characteristics create a wonderful companion to a wide variety of foods such as stuffed chicken, stir-frys, crisp summer salads and most seafood offerings.

Our 2001 Merlot is an example of what this much-maligned grape is capable of. We took advantage of the optimum conditions of 2001 to let the fruit hang and ripen into perfection. This ripeness shows in the intense nose of vanilla, plums and vielle de prune liqueur with tones of blueberry, blackberry and brambly spice. The palate is no less sumptuous; with full flavors of red apple, dark berries and a hint of blackberry jam supported by just the right amount of toasty oak. As in recent years, we have improved the quality by adding additional amounts of American Oak barrel aging. In addition, I have used my years of experience in Bordeaux, by blending this wine with Cabernet Franc (12%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). This gives the wine complexity, structure and finesse. The 2000 vintage was of tremendous quality and so consequently, this Merlot stands as one of the best examples of the variety made from the Napa Valley.

This is the first release of our proprietary crafted wine Trifecta. Striving for the perfect mix of finesse and complexity, this blended wine showcases the softer vintage beautifully. An intricate nose unfolds with layers of creamy vanilla expressed by new French oak, bing cherry and sweet brown spices while hints of bacon fat and game add depth. The palate echoes the nose with cinnamon, nutmeg and cherry flavors while a wonderful melange of cherry cola, tobacco, dried herbs and a touch of cedar develops. The tannins are supple and smooth, creating a velvety mouth-feel and a light acidity keeps the fruit lively and bright. Trifecta pairs excellently with coq au vin, roast pork and rich pasta dishes. 100% of the grapes are sourced directly from our three estate vineyards; with Cabernet Sauvignon from our St Helena Ehlers Lane vineyard, Merlot from our prestigious Oakville vineyard and Cabernet Franc from our Longwood Napa Estate property. Multiple soil types and microclimates lend themselves to this gloriously complex and seamless wine.
