Our winery started as a dream. We’ve been interested in wine for a long time, ever since Vern’s earliest experiments in elementary school with raspberry and dandelion wine. Despite our predictably limited success as elementary school vintners, in 1991, we opened a three acre vineyard growing 50 different grape varietals. More recently, in 2009, we finally realized our dream of opening a boutique winery, the Mount Lehman Winery.Today, we’re well known for our award winning wines, and we are committed to growing our local, family run business.

In the early 1990s, growing grapes in the Fraser Valley was a foreign concept, but we believed in the possibilities. After numerous trials with dozens of grape varieties, we narrowed down our contenders to a handful of varieties that perform very well in the Fraser Valley climate. The challenges of the region’s weather have resulted in intriguing vintage variations, and we have proven that the Mount Lehman area of the Fraser Valley yields brilliantly flavored grapes. With our homegrown grapes, we produce fresh, aromatic red and white wines whose quality rivals wines from around the globe.
Today, Mount Lehman winery has 15 acres planted to a variety of grapes including Pinot noir (our flagship wine), Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot, and a smattering of others. We continue to expand our plantings at Mount Lehman, growing a little each year. In addition to our own farmed fruit grown in the beautiful Fraser Valley, we source grapes from some of the best vineyard sites in the Okanagan Valley. This sourcing combination allows us to take the best of both growing regions for our wines. In some cases, we even combine grapes from the two regions, producing wines beautifully highlighting each flavor.
Our goal for all of our wines is to achieve drinkability, not force or power. We wish to produce the most accessible, best boutique wines in British Columbia. The lower alcohol content in our wines will tempt you to take one more sip – in fact, you may want to finish the entire bottle! How do our wines compare to others? Well, Mt Lehman Winery has won dozens of awards for their many wines at provincial, national, and international competitions including the prestigious Governor General’s Award of Excellence. That says a lot about the care and passion our family puts into our winemaking.
While we continue to expand as we seek to ensure the future of our winery – we remain a “family” winery. We are dedicated to sustainable growing methods and minimal intervention in the winemaking process. We pride ourselves on our products – a pleasing variety of wines handcrafted in the natural tradition.

Directions
Our tasting room is located at 5094 Mount Lehman Rd., just 3 km north of the freeway (Abbotsford Airport exit). We are open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 noon to 5 PM. (Also open holidays with the exception of Easter & Christmas)
