Barren Ridge Vineyards Located on the family’s former apple orchard, Barren Ridge Vineyards is now home to Augusta County’s premier winery. John and Shelby Higgs converted their historic apple barn into a state-of-the-art winery, preserving the original structure and wood beams. The tasting room features wonderful wines that are available daily for complimentary tours and tastings. Daily 11-5

Directions
From I-81 take Exit 225 to Rt. 262 North for 1.8 miles. Right on St. James Rd for 2.3 miles. Right on Barren Ridge Road. Winery is on right. From I-64 take Exit 91 toward Fishersville on Tinkling Spring Road (Rt. 285 North) for 1.5 miles. Left on Rt. 250 West for 1 mile. Right on Barren Ridge Road.   Cabernet Franc
With beautiful deep color from its’ traditional, full fermentation, this Cabernet Franc has soft tannins and a smooth peppery finish. This exceptional example of a Valley red works well with spicy ethnic dishes.
  Chardonnay
A 100% chardonnay made from Naked Mountain Vineyards grapes. Barrel fermented in 40% new oak and 60% neutral oak. Wonderfully light and dry, it pairs well with grilled seafood.
  Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot is rapidly becoming the premier red grape of Virginia and this wine is a good example of why this is so. It reveals notes of cassis, blackcurrant, leather, and a hint of anise. Pairs nicely with grilled meats and game.
  Rosé
This wine is a bold blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Touriga and Petit Verdot. Dry, fresh, and crisp are all words to describe this lovely pink wine. Perfect served as an aperitif.
  Touriga
This rich, full bodied red is round and velvety with bright cherry and currant. Perfect served with steaks and bold enough to compliment rich dishes such as steak au poivre or osso buco.
  Traminette
This semi-dry white has 1% residual sugar. A touch of mint and honey on the nose, will be followed with a smooth lemon finish. Wonderful with spicy dishes or just to sip at the end of a hot day.
  Vidal Blanc
Vidal Blanc Date of Harvest: September 12 & 14, 2007 Varietal/Blend: Vidal Blanc Cases Produced: 320 Release Date: April 2008 This is a well balanced wine with wonderful notes of honeysuckle and citrus. Excellent with chicken, seafood, and light pasta dishes or perfect for a summer picnic!
  Viogner
This dry white will take you to an exotic island with warm tropical fruit and hints of peach and pineapple. Pairs well with rich seafood dishes, tuna steaks, and oriental faire.
