Our Certified Organic estate vineyards and winery are located in Orleans, California, on the Klamath River, about 80 miles NE from Arcata-Eureka. We are just far enough away from the fog of the Pacific North Coast to benefit from the drenching sunshine of the inner valleys, just close enough to enjoy its nocturnal cooling influence as the ocean air wriggles its way up the river valleys. In other words: perfect condition for the high quality wine grapes which can ripen and express their varietal characters. Our vines grow in a thick layer of mineral-rich silt at the level of the 1000-year floodplain, their roots ultimately reaching down into volcanic gravelly beds.
We grow our grapes organically, strictly and uncompromisingly. Our wines are vinted in small lots, sulfite free, unfiltered and unfined, then aged 2-3 years in the finest American and French oak barrels available. We consider ourselves traditionalists in the winemaking craft, and we take our responsibility as stewards of the fine grapes we make into wine very seriously indeed.
