Reynard Florence Vineyard

Reynard Florence Vineyard There have been a lot of newcomers to Virginia wine over the last few decades and while Reynard Florence is only a few years old, founders and proprietors Roe and Dee Allison are no strangers to the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge. The two, purchased the land where Reynard Florence is located shortly after they were married in 1976. Roe and Dee built their house in 1980 which overlooks the vineyard today. The couple raised their two sons, who also attended local schools, in that home. Instilled with a firm belief in maximizing the land's potential, Roe and Dee began planning a vineyard on the land where they had built their lives. Breaking ground in April '06 with only one half acre Petit Manseng vines, Reynard Florence has since expanded to include over 2 acres of Grenache, Petit Verdot, and Merlot. Under the direction of veteran vineyard consultant Chris Hill and winemaker Michael Shaps, Reynard Florence’s premier vintage in 2009 of Petit Manseng reflected not only the Allison’s love for the region, but also the care that went into the vineyard’s design and vine maintenance.

  Cabernet Franc
Fast becoming a Virginia classic, our Cabernet Franc features a woodsy nose and a lovely ruby red color. The wine opens with bright red cherry and redcurrant, boasts an expansive fig toned midpalate, and a memorable finish with hints of chocolate and white pepper. Pairs great with roast chicken, honey ham, and even burgers.
  Grenache
Inspired by the wines of Langudoc, this special Virginia Grenache is a medium bodied red, showing off a deep garnet color with round fruit flavors of raspberry and blackcurrant. Carefully tended and handcrafted with only four cases produced, this one of a kind wine is simply a gem that you can't find anywhere else.
  Petit Manseng
The straw color of the 2009 Petit Manseng fills the glass from rim to rim and features a darker more golden rod core. The nose is filled with honeysuckle with just a hint of lemon zest and mango. Opening with a sneaky low acid attack the front of the palate is filled with cantaloupe and honey. The midpalate expands nicely with pineapple and other tropical undertones. The finish lingers with bananas, all spice, pear and citrus.
  Reynard Blanc
This special blend of Virginia varietals, Riesling (33%), Traminette (33%), Petit Manseng (25%), and (Viognier (9%) has aromas of pineapple, lychee, floral rose petal notes and flavors of honey and citrus with great palate weight and length. Bright acidity overlaps the rich layered fruit and gives the wine an attuned balance. This versatile and unique blend was awarded a silver medal at the 2010 Governor's Cup.
  Reynard Rouge
This blend of Virginia varieties makes for a classic Bordeaux style wine. Subtle plum and earth tones roam the palate and finishes deeply with dried cherry. Aged in new oak, let this one breathe for at least an hour.
