Hanover Park Vineyard

Hanover Park Vineyard Hanover Park Vineyard was unknowingly born during amonth long honeymoon in the south of France in the summer of 1996. Michael and Amy Helton returned home, with a love of wine and the countryside, and by December Hanover Park Vineyard, in the Yadkin Valley of North Carolina began. Two artists and teachers took a chance, worked very hard, and turned a deserted Farm into a thriving vineyard. Two and a half acres were planted in 1997; two more acres were planted in 1998. The farmhouse, built in 1897, was transformed into the tasting room and winery in 1999 for the first harvest producing 375 cases. The 2000 vintage was 1000 cases; the 2001 harvest was 1800 cases, and the 2002 about 2400 cases. People feel at home at Hanover Park, walking through the vineyards, picnicking under the old oaks, tasting the wines, and sometimes pitching in to help with the work. The atmosphere is conducive to sitting and visiting in addition to tasting and enjoying the wines. Hours: Thu-Fri, 4-6 pm; Sat, 12-6 pm; Sun 1-5 pm.

  Mourvedre

  Rosé
A semi-sweet wine with fragrant aromas and hints of cherry, spice and peach, our rosé is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Mourvedre, Chambourcin and some years Viognier. These six red varietals give this Rosé tremendous flavor and an excellent alternative to white zinfandel.
  Viognier
A light smooth dry white wine produced from grapes grown at the foot of Pilot Mountain, Viognier has spicy flavors of peach, pear, and citrus. Viognier is our best selling wine, out selling Chardonnay by two to one, and is fast becoming North Carolina's Signature White Wine. Even though it is dry, because it is so smooth, some think it has a touch of sugar. Richard Leahy, East Coast Editor of Vineyard and Winery Management Magazine said, "Hanover Park Vineyard's Viognier is the best Viognier for the money anywhere."
