A nose of roses, plums and dark chocolate is confirmed on the palate where joyously silky tannins, dark cherries and black tea combine with balanced acids and a hint of toastiness to create a deeply pleasurable gustatory experience. An estate-grown wine of integrity, the 1998 Adastra Merlot is best savored with food and friends.

This delicious Merlot has a blackberry-cherry core with hints of cedar, roses, tea, cassis and vanilla. Good acidity, moderate tannins and a delightfully rich texture make for an excellent food wine that will marry well with many meats as well as hearty vegetarian dishes. More fruit-forward than the 1996 Adastra Merlot, the 1997 has the splendid color we expect from our terroir and ends with a long, satisfying finish.
