Devitt Winery

Devitt Winery By the end of September 2004, we will have 3 wines bottled for this year. The first, a "2003 Pinot Gris" the second, "2003 Chardonnay", barrel fermented, from Layne Vineyards in the Applegate Valley and the third, "2003 Precipice", a 50/50 blend of Merlot and Zinfandel from Layne and Old Stage vineyards. All our wines are made from locally grown grapes harvested from either Old Stage Vineyards in Jacksonville or Layne Vineyards and Steelhead Run Vineyards in the Applegate Valley.

Directions
From I5 going North, take the Jacksonville exit and stay on Hwy 238 thru Jacksonville for 11 miles to the winery. From I5 Grants Pass South, take the old town exit and stay on this street thru Grants Pass, it turns into Hwy 238, go 22 miles to the winery. (between mile marker 21 & 22). Just a short drive from historic Jacksonville and world famous Ashland.

  Cabernet Franc
A full bodied dry red wine, aged in oak for 18 months before bottling. A fruity nose and great mouthfeel, flavor notes make you want more. This wine goes well with red meat, cheese, chocolate and game.
  Cabernet Sauvignon
A full bodied dry red wine, aged in oak for 18 months before bottling. Up front fruit with a peppery nose, great mouthfeel, complex tannin structure and will age well. This wine goes well with red meat, lamb, strong cheese etc.
  Chardonnay
A full bodied dry white wine, fruity nose with a hint of oak and a smooth mouthfeel.We whole cluster pressed the grapes from picking bins, the juice went into new 225 litre French/American oak barrels for fermenting until dry. The wine was allowed to stay on the lees until the first racking in August 2004, when we bottled.
  Chardonnay
A Burgundian style, full bodied wine with hints of oak and vanilla balanced by the flavors of summer fruits and a smooth mouthfeel.
  Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Exciting aromas of pepper, wild berries, flavors of bittersweet chocolate and expresso complemented by spice and vanillin notes. The tannins are more complex, this wine will definitely benefit with bottle aging.
  Le Petite Oink
"A blend of Syrah Blush and Gewurztraminer". A medium bodied rose' wine, not overly sweet with floral overtones and a light citrus nose. A wonderful way to end a meal with a fruit or cheese plate.
  Merlot Applegate Valley
A full bodied, dry, intensely deeply colored red wine, aged in oak for 18 months before bottling. A fruity nose with great mouthfeel. Up front tannin structure denotes that it will age well. It goes well with red meat, cheese, chocolate and game.
  Merlot Old Stage Vineyards
A full bodied dry red wine, aged in oak for 18 months before bottling. A fruity nose and great mouthfeel. Soft tannin structure that goes well with red meat, cheese, chocolate and game.
  Pinot Gris
The up front aroma is bright and clean with light floral and fruit overtones,the wine is dry with a crisp finish and a delightful fruitiness that lingers. Perfect for a summer picnic, seafood, poultry & cheese.
  Precipe
A medium bodied dry red wine with a fruity nose and great mouthfeel that goes well with red meat and game.
  Shiraz
A barrel fermented, medium bodied dry rose' wine with a fruity nose and great mouthfeel. A wonderful summer picnic wine. This wine goes well with BBQ, burgers etc.
  Shiraz Blush
A barrel fermented, medium bodied, dry rose' wine with a fruity nose and great mouthfeel. A wonderful summer picnic wine. This wine goes well with BBQ, burgers etc.
