Brandon Hills Vineyard
An Open Lyre Trellis system was chosen at Brandon Hills Vineyard over the more widely used Vertical Shoot Position Trellising. The Open Lyre system is more expensive to install and requires more annual labor hours to farm. In the vigorous vine growing climate here in the Yadkin Valley it is the best way to achieve balance between vine growth and grape production.
Brandon Hills Vineyard was established in 2005. We decided to not take a harvest the second year. By dropping the fruit that year the plant concentrates on vine and root growth rather than grape production allowing the vines to mature. Our first harvest was in 2007. Those red wines will have been aged in French Oak barrels for 18 months before they are bottled. We grow Barbera, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Pinot Gris.

Barbera
Fruity with hints of smoke and vanilla, this Northern Italian red wine is low in tannin and slightly higher in acid. Pairs well with grilled or smoked meats and tomato based sauces.
Pinot Gris
Slightly fuller bodied than the previous vintage this Pinot Gris has the same crisp flavors and floral bouquet expected of a fine pinot.
Raptor Red
Our premier red wine blend, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and the remaining made up from Cab Franc, Petit Verdot and Viognier. One dollar of every sale of this wine will benefit Carolina Raptor Center
Rip Tide Rosé
A blend of mostly Merlot, Barbera and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that were allowed to ferment on the skins for a short period of time before being pressed. Skin contact gives the wine its pale color and adds depth to the flavors. Residual sugar enhances the fruit flavors and balances the acidity in the finish.
Viognier
(VEE-ohn-YAY) This French Rhone Varietal is characterized by its floral aroma and peachy flavors with a hint of apricot. Our wine has fruity flavors throughout the palette.
White Merlot
Our White Merlot is a semi-sweet wine with a 4% residual sugar which is well balanced by the wine’s acidity. The wine is made from 100% Merlot grapes but processed like a white grape to bring out the fruit flavors of the Merlot.
