  Arbre Vert Vineyard Pinot Noir
The 2003 Siduri Arbre Vert Pinot Noir shows enough forward fruit to appeal to California Pinot Noir fans (especially when paired with food) but enough backbone and restraint to those of you who prefer a more Burgundian style wine. It shows blackberry, currant, and pepper flavors and a rich medium body. The finish reveals a bit more of the acidity typical of Oregon along with a few tannins that promise positive evolution if cellared for the next several years.
  Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir
The 2003 Siduri Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir shows a wonderfully enticing and perfumed nose of blackberries and blueberries, with hints of toasty vanilla from the French oak. Lush and forward, but showing signs of complexity already, this wine drinks well now but should certainly improve with a couple of years in the cellar.
  Clos Pepe Pinot Noir
One of the distinguishing characteristics of the 2004 vintage was the heat spikes that punctuated the month of September. Because many of our vineyards are farmed impeccably they often achieve unusually low yields. Combine low yields and heat spikes and you run the risk of raisined fruit. Because 2004 looked like an earlier ripening year all along , we purposefully chose to leave more crop on the vines at several locations with the hope of slowing down the ripening process and avoiding the difficulties that go along with the aforementioned heat spikes. This truly paid benefits, especially at the Clos Pepe Vineyard . Because of the extra crop, the grapes were able to hang through the heat spell. We were then able to achieve our desired ripeness levels and the fruit came in at textbook numbers with an average sugar of 25 brix and a pH of 3.4. The resulting wine has flavors of cherry Jolly Ranchers, violets, and cigar box. The wine is quite full bodied , but with a strong backbone of acidity. This wine should be an ideal candidate for the cellar.
  Clos Pepe Vineyard Pinot Noir
Although the Clos Pepe Vineyard Pinot Noir is one of the biggest of our Pinot Noirs in 2003 it is also one of the most lush and accessible. The nose is reminiscent of white flowers while the palate is full of black cherry liqueur and blackberry flavors. Full bodied and rich, the finish is lush and long with the balancing tannins surrounded by the sumptuous presence of the wine.
  Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir
While the Rosella’s is the new kid on the block in the Santa Lucia Highlands, the Garys’ Vineyard has become a more established “middle-aged” vineyard. For those of us buying Garys’ fruit from the beginning that is difficult to come to grips with as it seems that the 1999 vintage (the year of the first crop off of Garys’) was just around the corner. The wines tell a different story. Both the 2002, and now the 2003, vintages are the finest wines this vineyard has produced. They show a richness and depth of flavor that only comes from a mature vineyard. Lively flavors of raspberry, cherry, and pomegranate carry thru on a long finish with good acidity helping make this a wonderful wine for a rich meal.
  Hawk’s View Vineyard Pinot Noir
67% new, Sirugue, Ermitage
  Hirsch Vineyard Pinot Noir
Deep, beautiful perfume, spice, earth, complex aromas, deep and balanced on the palate, delicious flavors.
  Keefer Ranch Pinot Noir
One of the biggest of the Sonoma County Pinot Noirs, our 2003 Keefer Ranch Pinot Noir delivers intense blueberry and cherry fruit flavors along with concentrated vanilla and spice flavors. The tannins are smooth and velvety promising a positive evolution for the next several years.
  Muirfield Vineyard Pinot Noir
The 2003 Siduri Muirfield Vineyard Pinot Noir rivals the 2002 wine as our most successful Muirfield Pinot Noir (and one of our most successful Oregon Pinot Noirs) to date. The wine just received a 90 rating from the Wine Spectator and they described it this way, “Smooth and subtle, with a meaty edge to the raspberry and cola flavors, lingering effectively on the beautifully modulated finish. Has real style. Drink now through 2012.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
  Olivet Grange Vineyard Pinot Noir
One of the most important things that we were able to do in 2003 was keep all of the clones from the vineyard separate . Thus we fermented and barreled down the 777, 667, 115, and 114 clones as if they were their own separate wine and keep them apart until we sat down and decided on the final blend. Doing this allowed us to address each of the clone’s various needs and then, by blending only the best barrels together, produce a superb Russian River Pinot Noir. The Wine Spectator said this about the wine, “Toasty oak gives it an initial aromatic lift and the core cherry, plum and wild berry quickly fill in the gaps. Long, persistent finish. Drink now through 2008.”
  Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir
Our 2003 Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir is a deeply colored, rich and intense wine showing layers of black fruit, blueberry and oak tinged creaminess. Focused tannins and concentrated flavors lead to a long, rich finish. Drink now through 2010.
  Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir
The Pisoni Vineyard in Monterrey County is probably our flagship Pinot Noir. Each year we receive dozens of phone calls from consumers who have tasted our Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir and want to know how Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir can taste so different from other Pinots. Although we can explain some of the differences (the poor soils at Pisoni, the impeccable farming, etc) there is a magic to the Pisoni Vineyard and its wines that you simply cannot capture in words. Fortunately, you can capture it in the bottle which is what we have done with the 2004 version of this wine.
  Rosella’s Vineyard Pinot Noir
The Rosella’s Vineyard has quickly established itself as one of the top 3 vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands Appellation along with the Pisoni and Garys’ Vineyards. To our palate, the wines from this property show a lush, creamy, plum flavored mouth feel that is totally unique to the vineyard. The 2003 also shows a more aromatic nose and a longer finish than our previous releases of this wine. Unfortunately, we only produced 125 cases of this wine.
  Russian River Pinot Noir
We can say without hesitation that this is the finest Russian River Valley Appellation Pinot Noir that we have produced. The pedigree is certainly impeccable as it is a blend of 43% Olivet Grange fruit, 38% Sapphire Hill fruit, and 19% Keefer Ranch. The wine shows the typical Russian River Valley flavor profile with ample raspberry and black cherry fruit, a slight hint of herbs, and a rich, fat finish. This is a hedonistic wine made for drinking everyday.
  Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
We have hit it big again in 2004 with the Russian River Valley Appellation Pinot Noir. We thought the 2003 was a very successful wine but the 2004 seems to surpass it. Of course, that task was made easier by the line-up of vineyards involved in the making of this wine. Combining the complexity of vineyards like Sapphire Hill and Ewald and the big, rich flavors of Keefer Ranch, Olivet Grange and Amber Ridge, we ended up with a very textured wine. A blend of 38% Keefer Ranch fruit, 24% Sapphire Hill, 22% Olivet Grange, 11% Ewald, and 5% Amber Ridge, it screams Russian River with its flavors of dark cherry, tobacco, roses, lilac and vanilla. Although this wine is drinking well young, we believe that it will improve for a few years in the bottle.
  Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir
The 2003 Siduri Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a superb blend exhibiting concentrated blackberry jam, black cherry, and huckleberry fruit flavors. Rich and yet elegantly styled, this wine already shows the complexity of its heritage while exhibiting the acid and structure to pair well with holiday foods.
  Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir
The 2003 Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a big, rich wine. Upon opening it is impressively concentrated but still a bit tight. However, within an hour the wine begins to blossom revealing loads of dark blackberry and plum flavors. It also shows an underlying minerality (almost a coal-like character) along with superb levels of natural acidity. This is truly an impressive Pinot Noir of vineyard-designate like quality but at an extremely attractive Appellation price. This wine is available only to those of you on the mailing list!
  Sapphire Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir
88% new oak, Francois Freres, Remond, Seguin Moreau, Rousseau
  Shaw Mountain Vineyard Pinot Noir
Blueberry, spice, earthy with good structure; a lot here, needs time.
  Siduri Amber Rose Pinot Noir
Producing the 2003 Siduri Amber Rose Pinot Noir required almost as much patience and determination as the little girl herself. We endeavored to find one single lot of wine that captured the spirit and character of Amber but couldn't quite come up with it. So we set about tasting and blending, tasting and blending. Finally, we came up with just the right wine, a mix of seven wines, all vineyard designated blends from the vintage. The wine is 18% Clos Pepe Vineyard Pinot Noir, 18% Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir, 18% Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir, 18% Shaw Mountain Vineyard Pinot Noir, 9% Muirfield Vineyard Pinot Noir, 9% Keefer Vineyard Pinot Noir, and 9% Olivet Grange Vineyard Pinot Noir. The wine reflects the best of Siduri Pinot Noir...lush, concentrated, seamless, with lively fruit, a lush texture, and good finishing acidity and tannins. It is a testament to blending, to hard work, to patience. It is a testament to Amber Rose herself.
  Siduri Sonoma County Pinot Noir
Our 2003 Sonoma County Pinot Noir shows Intense, jammy flavors of black cherry, black berry and strawberry elevated by firm, fine-grained tannins. The round silky mouthfeel gives way to a long finish showing notes of sweet earth and oak spice. Drink now through 2008
  Sonatera Vineyard Pinot Noir
This is a new vineyard for Siduri located south of Santa Rosa, near Cotati; rich and ripe with lots of red cherry and spice.
  Sonoma County Pinot Noir
Our 2004 Sonoma County is a blend of mountain, coastal and valley fruit from many of our finest vineyards, providing layers of complex and synergistic components to the final blend. Although August heat spikes were a concern, work done in the vineyard and a little magic in the barrel resulted in a blend that is a beautifully rounded, bright expression of Sonoma County Pinot Noir. Aromas of blueberries, cherries, plums and smoked meat weave with creamy oak and perfect tannins to create an explosive mouthfeel with a long, lingering finish that is like the ghost of a lollipop in your mouth.
Van der Kamp Vineyard Pinot Noir
Deep, earthy, smoky with that classic Van der Kamp funk (the good kind).
  Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
The 2003 Siduri Willamette Valley Pinot Noir will definitely appeal to those of you who are searching for a more balanced, food-friendly style of Pinot Noir than some of those coming from California these days. It shows a concentration of raspberry and bitter wild-cherry flavors along with hints of anise and dark chocolate. The finish is persistent with good acidity carrying it on through its long finish. This seems like a great wine to match with medium weight foods during the winter months.
  Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
We’ve always given Oregon a great deal of respect for the role it has played in teaching us how to deal with Pinot Noir. Each year presents its own challenges. In 2004, it was the looming rain. We maintained a constant vigil in order to harvest our fruit at the last possible moment and benefit from maximum ripening. The day after we harvested our fruit, the Willamette Valley was deluged with 4” of rain. Now that is timing. This wine is a blend of Muirfield, Shaw Mountain, Arbre Vert and Hawk’s View Vineyards. Compared to 2003 the 04’s are definitely more elegant but also a bit more complex. Flavors of raspberries, dark cherries and flint seamlessly integrate with fine grained oak tannins. The harmonious balance of flavors and backbone make this a great food wine.
