Stone's Throw Winery

Stone's Throw Winery It's What we do here at Stone's Throw Winery in Door County... Combining our access to small lots of Premium Grapes from California's finest growing regions: Napa, Sonoma & Monterey Counties with our commitment to traditional wine making practices; small tank fermentation, judicious use of oak barrels, attention to detail, plus the belief that with great grapes and minimal handling, fine wine makes itself! Currently our cellar offers our efforts from the 2001, 2002 and 2003 vintages, including handmade examples of Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling and others. For the 2003 vintage we crushed night-picked grapes (to keep them cool), drove them in refrigerated trucks direct from California wine country... within 36 hours of harvest they were fermenting in our tanks. In Addtition, this was our fourth harvest from the vineyard here at the winery. Come visit, taste and shop our marketplace, walk our grounds, help yourself to a picnic table or reserve a bocce ball court.

Ceviche Sauvignon Blanc -, Napa Valley, California
Ceviche is named after the refreshing seafood dish from South America, and captures its exuberant freshness in wine form. While some Napa Valley Sauvignon Blancs seem like beefed up, Chardonnay wanna-bes, the Ceviche stays lean and focused. The nose has the lime and citrus aromas of its namesake, complemented by other tropical fruits such as mango and pineapple. This is the perfect wine for summer seafood and fish;it also goes well with goat cheese and salads. For that matter, feel free to serve the Ceviche Sauvignon Blanc as an aperitif or just to relax with at the end of a summer day.
  Chardonnay
This fine Chardonnay offers flavors reminiscent of luscious citrus, pear and tropical fruit. Accentuated by crisp acidity and complemented by a touch of oak, serve this well balanced wine with seafood, poultry and dishes prepared with cream sauces.
  Field Blend Red
In the early 1900's California's newly arrived Italians intermixed their vineyard plantings with several different varietals to produce wines that reminded them of their home land... This "field blend", as it is known, is rarely practiced today but we respect the depth and character it provides. We craft our versions of mixed varietals for your (and our) enjoyment!
