Watermelon Creek Vineyard

Watermelon Creek Vineyard In 1820, three members of the Padgett family settled on the banks of Watermelon Creek and began a legacy that forged its influence on agriculture, business, and spiritual life in Tattnall County for over 150 years. Once the site of a sawmill, grist mill, turpentine still, barrel making, general store, post office, and the Padgett home place, Watermelon Creek Vineyard flourishes as a testimony to the love, labor, and devotion that the Padgett family dedicated to this area. Now, the ninth generation is continuing to carve out a lifestyle that centers on the abundance of the rural lifestyle, agriculture, and business. The proprietor, Charles Tillman, and his family have restored and occupy the original home and have opened Watermelon Creek Vineyard as a destination venue. The fifteen acre site includes The Barn Yard, The Pond, The Mill House, The Vineyard, Watermelon Creek nature area, and the Winery Complex. Opening May 24, 2012, Watermelon Creek Vineyard specializes in the muscadine grape and various blends.
