Silverton Brewery

Silverton Brewery OThe original Silverton Brewery opened in September of 1880 under the trade name Silverton Brewing Company. A beer garden was constructed and the first patrons entered the doors in July of 1881. The brewery was located at the base of Sultan Mountain, across Mineral Creek. Cellars for lagering extended 100 feet into the rock of the mountain. Eventually, a lake was constructed, which was fed by a spring and supplied the brewery with crystal ice. It is a testament to the quality of their product that it was praised as the finest in Colorado. In 1884, Charles Fischer purchased the brewery. His beer was described as "PURE AS THE WATERS THAT FLOW DOWN THESE MOUNTAINS". In 1901, Fischer leased the brewery to William Schultz. Schultz. In 1912, the business was sold to Charles Faden and associates. Thereafter, it operated until the onset of prohibition. Silverton went without a brewery until the current Silverton Brewery opened for business in June of 2005. The brewing system became fully operational in April of 2006. The five-barrel system has been producing fine beers ever since.

  Bear-Ass Brown
Is an English-style mild brown ale. It features a rich brown color, yet has a surprisingly smooth flavor, lots of malt content and light hop usage. The Bear-Ass Brown is very true to style with a lacy white head. One notices its clean, crisp malt profile that pleasantly lingers in your mouth and ever-so-slight hints of chocolate, biscuit, and caramel can be detected. High noon is high time to sit down and enjoy one of these tasty session beers. Whether you need a little nerve calmer before you take on Red Mountain Pass, a little hydration before you hike a 14er, or just a beer before you get back on the train, this style will satisfy your needs without putting you over the edge.
  Gold Mine Lager
Light, crisp, teasingly hoppy! A traditional Munich Helles Lager with just a kiss of extra hoppy goodness.
  Ice Pick Ale
A highly hopped, yet thoroughly drinkabe traditional India Pale Ale in the British style. This ale will not pucker your mouth, but will appeal to hop-heads simultaneously. Dry-hopping with aroma rather than bittering hops yields a distinctive nose, followed by a balanced body, and a notable hoppy finish. Malts are not ignored in this brew, merely subdued.
  Red Mountain Ale
A traditional Irish Red Ale designed to quench, not overwhelm. Special Pale, Munich, Medium Crystal, Flaked, and Chocolate malts create a coppery color and a rich, almost creamy flavor profile. Willamette and Chinook hops provide a mild nose, and balanced finish.
